    Smelly under sink...

What he said. Get that sorted before it fails in the middle of the night and makes you an unwanted indoor water feature.

Shower traps are too low profile - help!

The point is that you (as a DIYer) may have missed a solution that is immediately obvious to a professional who has encountered the same problem many times before... Uploading pictures and/or providing more detail may help you in the long run.

Hot air gun for capillary joints?

You'll do more damage with an electric heat gun as you'll have to hold it there for longer. Use one of these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/monument-soldering-mat/45563 ... and a blow lamp. 8mm will flow in no time at all.

    Dripping Immersion Tank

Other way around. The red gate valve stops the hot water leaving the top of the cylinder. You have a 2-in-1 hot water cylinder which has a cold water cistern stacked on top of it. Called a fortic cylinder. The 'waist' a third of the way down the cylinder is the point at which the cold cistern...

    Kitchen waste outlet height

Pretty soon, waste water is going to start overflowing out of the washing machine if you leave it like that. Waste water works on gravity. ;)

How best to deal with F&R passing between floors of different height?

Thought I'd post back the results... all by my hand, save for the window which was done by a local guy: Still not entirely finished, but I'm happy with the results so far. Will try and find some 'in progress' shots at some point, and upload those.

    Laying a shower tray

The tile adhesive both supports and fixes the tray in position. The silicone is to prevent water seeping down between the wall/beneath the tiles and the tray. It doesn't have any structural properties as such.

connecting to old osma soil pipe

It's another pan connector. It would have taken an S-trap toilet at one point, which was then replaced with a P-trap toilet, hence the need for the second pan connector. Potentially not changed at the time as it's likely to be solved welded to the soil pipe beneath.

Changing bath from 15mm to 22mm

Yes and yes. But not enough to make any noticeable difference.

Changing bath from 15mm to 22mm

It'd be the same on both. The shower is the bottleneck.

Changing bath from 15mm to 22mm

No, but with a smaller bore you have less cold standing water to run off before you get the hot to the outlet.

Does this look right to you?

It's a plume diverter. It's supposed to point upwards.

    Washing machine drain pipe leaking

You'll need to find your machine's model number to stand any chance. It's normally a long string of letters and numbers beginning with W. Once you've got that you can go on the Bosch website and download your manual.

    Waste fouling benching

Unfortunately not. Straight down is the only option. The slate isn't a bad idea. Doesn't surprise me. I think most things were done by the previous owner with little regard for the rules. Only consolation is that sewage is unlikely to ever back up that far as there's a bottle gully for the...

    Waste fouling benching

I mean benching as in the sloping concrete sides of the manhole. That is what it's called, isn't it? And yes, there is a cover. I just removed it to take the photo.

Not sure if you're being serious or not?...

    Waste fouling benching

Afternoon, We've recently had a loft extension built which has added a WC on the second floor where there wasn't one before. As a result, the waste seems to enter the manhole with a lot more gusto than before due to the extra height, and we're getting waste fouling the benching opppsite. At...
