Bosch dishwasher water hammer - valve already replaced

Not sure why this was moved from appliances into plumbing and central heating, as it's clearly an appliance issue... Anyway, I've resolved it: The float in the pressure chamber which registers the water level in the sump was not sinking to the bottom of the chamber when the machine emptied due...

Bosch dishwasher water hammer - valve already replaced

Good afternoon, I have a Bosch SGS56E02GB/45 dishwasher which has recently started causing a hammering in the pipework when it fills. The needle on the pressure gauge on the rising main jumps up and down in time with the noise. I replaced the fill valve, but this has not solved the problem. I...

Washing machine remote from a drain

Yep. The washing machine pump would definitely not. Even if it worked, the flow would be so slow that you'd end up getting an accumulation of lint and hair in the sump which would cause no end of issues.

Washing machine remote from a drain

Install a macerator near the washing machine and then run the waste from that in 21.5mm? Make sure it's one man enough to handle the flow rate of a washing machine on a drain cycle.

    GoSystem QP8088H Gas Blow Torch

This. I have the same torch. If you look down the nozzle you'll see metal deflectors. The idea is that it makes the flame 'wrap' around the target area.

Woodburner installation - am I being unreasonable about scaffolding cost?

It's not an excessive cost. I fitted my stove and the liner myself, 10 metres off the ground. I attempted it with a ladder and bottled it a third of the way up as I was clearly going to end up dead. Ended up hiring a cherry picker and operative for £240 for a half day and did it in about an...

Invisible fixing for 9mm MDF sheet?

Good afternoon, I need to fix some MDF matchboard to a timber frame in a bathroom I'm refurbishing. I'd like to fix the matchboard to the frame invisibly and I was originally thinking of using keku or button-fix fixings, but the MDF is too thin to screw into. I'd like it to be demountable, so...

    Dishwasher waste nozzle help

Franke sink, I'm guessing? I can't find the part on its own, but here's a single bowl waste with the part included for £14.20. http://www.tradingdepot.co.uk/franke-plumbing-kit-siphon-kit-1-1120059946-for-1-bowl-sink You might have more luck than me - try searching for 'Franke waste'.

    Tips for tightening basin backnut?

Thanks gents, was wondering whether such a thing existed, but not knowing its proper name it makes searching/asking for it difficult.

    Tips for tightening basin backnut?

I need to fit a set of taps where the tap tail has a 1/2" feed to the central mixer off to the side, as per the diagram below: I obviously need to tighten the backnut to the basin, but the side projection makes the box spanner that I have totally useless. The adjustable and non-adjustable...

Potterton system boiler PRV & EV failure

It sounds as if you're talking about the PRV in your boiler, which is nothing to do with the cylinder (save for the fact the water heated by the boiler indirectly heats the water in the cylinder). The cylinder will still be pressurised by the incoming water main. The heating coil is separate and...

    Water Softener??

I've got a Monarch water softener. It's great, but the softened water tastes (to me) horrible. I wouldn't commit yourself to a softened water supply in the kitchen unless you know you'll be happy with how it tastes.

wash mac hot+cold feed vs cold only feed- discussion, argument, debate

Hot and cold fill machines normally only use the hot when a 60°+ cycle is selected. That might be why she's never noticed it?

Can Someone Explain the Waste Pipe. Sink/Dishwasher

The waste water is taking the path of least resistance. If it's only happening when you're draining a sink full, I wouldn't worry. If it's doing it when you're draining just a couple of litres, as Denso says, you could be looking at a partial blockage somewhere.

Chrome bottle trap for wall basin

Good good. A trap like the McAlpine CAA10 would do the trick - it's like a regular trap in that it doesn't come with the branch which disappears off into the wall.
