    Tools you cannot work without?

I like my pvc pipe cutters. They cut round and oval pvc conduit up to 25mm and they have notch so you can hold and cut mini trunking up to yt2, all with a neat straight edge. Oh and a headlight. ( not sure how bright those Marlboro lights are in a loft  )

    Using conectors or not

Depending on the oven, I find the forked crimps fit well. And as B.A.S has already said, use the correct crimping tool.

    MICC cable

Just another post to say what an excellent guide that was from RF. By reading a number of posts lately it seems like the standards in the colleges are not what they were. When I was at college the lecturers were a good mix of boffins and ex professional sparks. The guy who taught me to do pyro...

More guidance from the ESC on domestic PIR's

I agree whole heartedly with what Adam and Ricicle have said. There is far too much emphasis put on instrument test results and paperwork during pirs. You can fill the form in with boxes ticked and test results logged but without a thorough inspection some real horrors can be there that arent...

    Security shutter open/close keyswitch

If it's the one I'm thinking of, when you've removed the cover a small hole is exposed with a small allen headed bolt in which holds the barrel in position. Loosen this and you should be in.

Earthing SWA Armour at Point A or B?

Probably because of the size and design of the box. Spark 123, I agree on that, and it would have been better in a bigger metal box but it's still ok. God knows why I'm defending it. It's not my work and I wouldn't have done it like that. But I did drag the photo up

Earthing SWA Armour at Point A or B?

If I remember correctly this was a join made to relocate a socket or fcu and not installed deliberately like this. It ran horizontally about 8ft up and had originally dropped down to a socket. The cable had been pulled up, joined, then the socket had been relocated further along the wall.(I...

Earthing SWA Armour at Point A or B?

Ok so it's not a perfect example, but even with an extra brass locknut or piranha nut the swa could be earthed in a small space and that was what I was trying to show. I agree that the box is small but everything fits ok. It is actually indoors on a warehouse wall so glands entering the sides...

Earthing SWA Armour at Point A or B?

You don't need that much room to earth an swa gland, even in a small plastic box

    Emergency Lights

To the OP. Do you know if there is a test switch for these lights? It may be in the off position.
