It's unfortunate the pump valves are the globe type. These type ALWAYS leak from the gland, and once turned will leak when open or closed. It's would be better to drain the heating and replace these pump valves while you're doing it. Get a DAB pump, they're £35. Don't take the wiring...

It was the vitodens 100-w, and the wiring diagram in the installation instructions weren't bad, but there wasn't a full y-plan wiring diagram. I didn't know viessmann could send you a full wiring diagram. I think i'll contact them for one.

Sounds like a good estimate. It does depend on the boiler. I would avoid looking on screwfix for boilers, the ones they sell aren't too good. I would suggest that you let your installer supply the boiler, as he'll get a better deal on it. You'll get lots of different opinions on boilers on...

Compression joints either with brass or copper olives are very simple to make. If you can't tell the difference between copper and brass I would suggest you put away your plumbing tools, and call a plumber. Sorry to be blunt, but you'll have a lot of mess to sort out when your fittings blow off.

Yep it's a thermal store. You'd be looking at around £1000 for replacement, depending on the size. Is there a reason it needs replacing?

I'd go for a Grant vortex combi 21kw. It'll be around £1800 to buy. Good boilers, easy to fit, easy to work on, reliable.

Are you sure it's not a thermal store? Is your house by any chance a wilcon homes house? These type of cylinders are expensive......i'd move house :D

Isn't the baxi solo a heat only boiler?

Converting from a back boiler to combi usually takes me three days on my own. Boiler, TRVs, controls and parts usually runs to about £800ish. You can work out the profit from there.
