    TP9000 and TP4000 holiday mode

Thanks. I am already looking at the Nest system although I would need the 3rd generation plus another thermostat for the second zone (unless I convert the house to single zone). I was hoping there would be an easier solution. I suspect the plumbers linked the TS2 thermostat to the airing...

    TP9000 and TP4000 holiday mode

I've recently moved into a new build with a Danfoss TP9000 programmer, a TS2 remote sensor in the living room and a TP4000 in the main bedroom. As I'm away for work quite regularly so I use the TP9000 holiday mode function. However, I just did an experiment and set the holiday mode to on but...

    Hand held shower hose

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't find it. I've just moved into a one year property and the main shower has a rain head with one of those fancy blue button on/off/boost plus a rotary temperature dial. My issue is that they only fitted the rain shower head. For many...

    Retrofit Automatic Bypass

You are correct. The pump comes on and off with the heating without any overrun. Does that mean it's OK to close the bypass completely as I have 3 small rads without TRVs ?

    Retrofit Automatic Bypass

    I'll try that thanks.

    Retrofit Automatic Bypass

Reading the blurb, yes, I think the boiler does have an overrun feature but I can't be sure. I'll try the method of closing the bypass valve completely to see how the system responds but of course if both 2 -port valves are closed there is a time when the pump has nowhere for the water to go. If...

    Retrofit Automatic Bypass

My system uses an Ideal FF270 with TRVs on all but 3 small rads (2 in the hall and 1 in the loo) and seems to have 2 separate 2-port valves for CH and HW. The installer fitted a gate valve bypass in the airing cupboard which he set to about 4 turns open. Now the system works OK i.e. there is no...

Accenta G3 with LCD remote key pad

Ah OK thanks. Not much point in getting an LCD version then.

Accenta G3 with LCD remote key pad

I have an Accenta G3 (quite old but working OK) but the remote keypad by the front door has been damaged. Will the LCD remote keypad from an Accenta G4 work with the G3 ? I can get an LED panel but thought I might as well upgrade to the LCD if I'm replacing it anyway. (I have the...

    Replacement shower door 1150mm

Great, I'll check out if the door adjusts enough. I was expecting there to be an 1150 door out there somewhere as I assumed it was a standard width. I have researched buying new seals but the costs is nearly £40 for one D shaped seal and one bendy bit to go between the two bifold panels. Also...

    Replacement shower door 1150mm

I have a shower enclosure which I think was fitted by the original house builder about 15 years ago. It has 3 panels, one being a straight forward hinged glass door and the other 2 panels being bifold. The seals have gone and the doors are looking pretty tired so I want to replace them...

Changing the way front door works

The key doesn't retract the latch, it only moves by moving the handle dòwn. In fact,I moving the handle downwards seems to do two things. Firstly it retracts the bolts around the frame and then retracts the latch. Locking the door with the key only seems to stop the handles moving downwards.

Changing the way front door works

We have a new-ish 5 point front door. I think most door locks work the same way now but we would really like to disable the outside handle. I tried a split spindle which initially I thought had solved the problem, until I managed to lock myself out. People couldn't get in from the outside at...

Suggestions for flooring with a 25mm step up to tiles

In our utility room, the builders messed up and set the worktop height measured up from the concrete floor. Then the rest of the kitchen into the entrance to the utility room was tiled resulting in a 25mm step down from the tiles to the utility room floor. If we build up the utility room...

    Sticky 2-port valve

I have a Danfoss HPA2 which has a sticky microswitch. It often stays closed energising the pump even though the valve itself has returned to the off position A light tap on the actutor body will sometimes free up the switch. Is the microswitch a serviceable item (like the motor) as it...

Converting primary heating circuit to sealed system

Also, what are the advantages of a sealed system over a vented system? If I can justify spending some money for converting to a sealed system it would make sense - but doing it just to fir a water softener maybe an over-kill. A problem arises in that I still won't have any "hard" water nearby...

Converting primary heating circuit to sealed system

I have a system consisting of a condensing boiler and Megaflow which has a heating circuit header tank in the loft. In order to install a water softener (another thread) I am considering how easy it is to convert the system to a sealed one so that I can be sure that no softened water is used...

    Water Softener and Boilers (again)!

Now that's a good idea. It's easy for me to shut off the feed to the header tank and then fit an alarm. Any suggestions where they are sold? Thanks Converting the whole system to a sealed one sounds complicated to me. I'm sure the original plumber did a good job but it may not have been...

    Water Softener and Boilers (again)!

Sorry if I confused, there is already a Culligan twin filter and separate tap attached to the kitchen sink which will remain fed directly from the hard water mains. Also the garden tap will continue to have hard water. The water softener could be fitted under the kitchen sink, just before the...
