    Extractor fan in bathroom

It might be... but without seeing the whole location, I really can't say further. Most electrical work involves disruption and making good after but, again, without seeing it I can't tell.

    Oven/Hob set up

At 230V this comes to a tad over 45A, so I'd go for a 45Amp mcb - you'll be very unlucky to get a trip for the extra 1/4 of an Amp.

Installing electric bathroom towel rail radiator

Yes, and all I can really advise - given the totality of your post is: Seriously!

    Meter/incoming rating

I just got a house PME'd and upgraded to 100Amps that had a "60 Amp" max sticker on the meter. The fix was to put a new 100Amp fuse in the service head and take off the sticker (it was the DNO who did this). Job Done!!

    Another cooker chimney question

That's a perfectly acceptable course of action.

    Another cooker chimney question

If the manufacturers data indicates a plug is acceptable, then fine, and if it is supplied with a moulded plug removing it can affect warranties. Generally, though, a fused spur is OK. However, there really must be an isolating switch accessble outside of the confines of the chimney...

    new ceiling fan

The answers may well be contained in the manufacturers instructions. Generally, in my experience, ceiling fans for living rooms have relatively low powered low speed motors and can safely be installed from a lighting radial, but you must check to see what you have on that circuit already, and...

    House Meter over-reading

Or go to www.saynoto0870.com and see if there's a geographic number listed for them as well - beat their system!!! +++++ Note to Crafty: Sorry I accidentally deleted your post. Mod Rupert +++++

    Shower cable (again!)

Upgrading can be simple but, there again, it can be quite difficult - depending on the incoming supply fuse, the consumer unit, the rating of the mcb and the size of cable already in situ. A 7kW shower can be powered through a 32Amp mcb and, in theory, a 4mm cable (depending on how the cable...

    Shower keeps cutting out

Almost impossible to tell remotely as there's a multitude of problems that can cause this sort of thing. Try descaling the spray head (in vinegar works!) as a first off. Make sure there's not a water supply problem (happened to me for quite a while before the water board found a burst main...

    TT earth rod resistance

Oh yes. It seems to be a combination of a large rod driven deep into wet clay within 100m of a sub-station with its own large earth spike. I still found it hard to believe and double checked it was properly disconnected before doing it again.

    TT earth rod resistance

I've just tested a TT system with a Ze of only 9 ohms :o I've never seen one with such a low Ze before - I even suspected the meter.

Wind Turbine to also heat my house?

I remember researching this about 6 years ago. The suggested way then was to use a turbine to charge up secondhand fork lift truck/milkfloat batteries (they're retired way before they lose that much capacity because they can no longer handle the power del requirements of motive power). This si...

    smoke alarm

A smoke alarm that incorporates a back up power supply can be connected into a local, regularly used, lighting cct, though a dedicated supply is recommended. A local regularly used lighting cct means, practically, a cct in the same house that is used often enough for a loss of supply to it to...

running a cable under a caravan

That seems to be intended for use in kitchens and utility rooms and I tend towards advising that no kit should be used for a purpose that is not within it's general spec.. This sort of flex might be a better choice if you can't get hi-tuf...

    13a

Ashley, given the number of Q's of this nature you've posted over the past day or so, why don't you tell us what you are doing, exactly, and let us advise from there. Your Q's do indicate a knowledge gap about electrics and the answers to some Q's like this can be very dependant on the context...

A quick question to sparks here

Agreed, fault finding everytime - keeps the mind fit even though the limbs are feeling the pace more than they used to  . Mind you, you are spot on, Taylor, how many times have you got a couple of hours in when the pearl that leads you straight there is delivered as an aside - even on...

running a cable under a caravan

I don't like normal T+E for outdoor work, I'd use something like this http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Cable_Index/Hi-Tuf/index.html
