    Small table saw

Thanks, are you happy with it? Ferm is meant to be a good brand? Most of my power tools are Dewalt though I've a Rexon mitre saw and bansaw which I'm very pleased with.

    Small table saw

Hi all I'm in the market for a small table saw for DIY. I'm thinking of the Ferm TSM1032 or the Scheppach HS80. Ideally i'd like it as quiet as possible, the Ferm comes with ear plugs which puts me off! Anyone have one of these or have tried one? Any other recommendations? Many thanks Magragh

    Insulation above bay window

Many thanks, I don't have any headroom due to the double glazing going right up to about an 1" of the ceiling once boarded. So the only option for insulation is between the 3 x 2" battens.

    Insulation above bay window

Hi All Quick question, I have a bay window in a second floor bedroom with a lower ceiling to the main one. The bay is about 2.0m x 0.6m, the plaster had gone in that section of the bedroom so I took the old plaster down. I will put a vapour barrier on, board it and then plaster. The void is...

    Bubbling paint above chimney

Thanks both for the replies. In answer. Yes when the chimney was capped there was a little render missing, this has been made good. Here is a photo. A few points. 1) Can you seal against this i.e. with unibond or similar? 2) I don't want to reopen the chimney and vent it, any other ways...

    Bubbling paint above chimney

Hi All I wonder if anyone has an answer. We have a bedroom which has an old fireplace that has been blocked and the whole wall re-plastered before we moved in 8 years ago. All was fine and I decorated the room when we moved in. I have been meaning to put a cowl on the chimney for a while but...

masking glass panels on internal door

Just done the same and used masking tape, the cellophane is not great though and I found paint leaked through in places. This was a 15 glass panel door. When I had a three panel one I just masked it and it came out fine. Remember to use a stanley knife round the edges of the glass when your...

    how to keep paint?

As a general point isn't it you need to ensure that the lid is air tight and the best way to do thsi is turn the tin upside down? Heard that years ago, not tried it though!

Plastering a ceiling with torn plasterboard backing

Hi All Does anyone have any tips on this as never done it? I've plastered a good few ceilings but they have tended to be new boarded. This is my landing, they did the old trick of plaster boarding the ceiling then filling the nail holes and gaps before covering it with lining paper and...

    Porch

Replacing the door is not really an option, besides putting another multipoint locking double glazed door in seems a waste of time (by the way we purchased the house like it). Hence I thought the porch is pretty well insulated bar the roof. Although insulating an unheated space does not make...

    Porch

Hi My intention is not to heat the porch but there is significant heat lost through the door and the roof is just felt and tiles whilst the rest is 18mm double glazing and door. So the idea would be to help limit the heat lost or slow it down. Does that make sense?

    Porch

Hi, the front wooden door opens into the house to go into the porch and the porch door then opens into the porch to let you out if that makes sense?

    Porch

Hi To save heat, I have a hardwood door into the entrance to the house with just 6mm glazing, so we lose quite a bit of heat through that door. Its two fold also, the sun hits the porch in the summer a lot and its like a sauna in there when you open the door! The question is do you need an...

    Porch

Hi All, I have a porch that's about 1.5 meters wide and 1 meter deep from the house. The porch has been built with single brick have way with batten and T&G cladding on the inside half way. Then the rest is surrounded by new 18mm double glazing as is the porch door. The roof is 4 x 2...

Max distance of soil pipe to stack

I hope you can see the above, the exsisting toliet soil which runs a deeper graidient to the main soil pipe than I thought hence needing to do more work replacing the old toilet pipe. New pipe to new toilet will have a aav as shown. Just to be clear was not hoping originally to touch the...

    condenser boiler drainage pipe

Not suitable for you but I used a tongue dish right below the boiler outlet, this will help a little as there will be a slight bit of warm air flowing through and helps keep the pipe from freezing. Also if the pipe does freeze then the dish catches the condesation and the boiler does not shut...
