Did the rads heat up b4 boiler change? Have they been ok after boiler change and got worse? For whatever reason seems like a circulation problem, was the system flushed?

Regardless, get it checked and made safe, cant be sure but yiu could end up with explosive ignition if you keep trying to light it. As for being ripped off ask freinds or family for recomendations.

Turn boileroff now and call your gas emergency provider. They will call out free of charge and make boiler safe within two hours max. Then get it looked at by a registered installer. Dont muck about with this.

I would have described fan noise as more of a rattling than a groaning. In 22 years at this I've never heard a fan on an se boiler groaning. Question for the op does it sound a bit like a plane landing?

Joe just cause your boiler did it doesn't mean this one is doing it. To state that is definitely the problem is ridiculous. We can all only offer advice here as none of us are standing in front of the boiler. Perhaps the op could post when boiler fixed to confirm fault and we will see.

Flush it properly with chems and treat with inhibitors after making sure no leaks. If you can get the magna clean on the return. Badly sludges system can produce loads of gas. Cheers

Could there be a blockage at the connection for the pressure gauge. Drain again, disconnect gauge and stick something in the hole to clear.

Are you sure it's air? It could be hydrogen gas building up if system water isn't treated properly. The manga clean might as well not be fitted imho as its not protecting the boiler. Other possibilities are weeping joints that could pull air into system rather than leak water out??

As johnd says if the room temperature is above set point on thermostat the rad won't heat or will be Luke warm. If you turn it to 5 and rad gets nice and hot circulation is ok.
