Leaking top connection of heating coil on hot water cylinder

This isn't a new cylinder.. it has been in for 10 years (since the house was built), but looking at the nut there is a fair amount of scale around it.

Leaking top connection of heating coil on hot water cylinder

I have a pre insulated hot water cylinder with a central heating coin going through it to heat the water. The connection at the top has started to leak. There is a nut that sits directly against the cylinder and seems to hold the coil in place. This looks like where the leak is coming from...

central heating pipe single bang and judder

There is no bypass valve installed and nothing between the pump and the 3 port valve. There is a gate valve on the central heating pipe after it leaves that 3 port valve. Should this be fully or only partially open?

central heating pipe single bang and judder

yes the water is flowing the right way. Can't think why a pipe would become unclipped by it's self though.

central heating pipe single bang and judder

It only does it if the central heating is on. I can cause it to happen myself by opening the central heating switch manually and it will make the noise when it closes the valve. I can't work out exactly where the noise originates though.

central heating pipe single bang and judder

It's not the three port valve as I had already replaced that and it made no difference. Its just a single loud 'shudder' of the pipes when the central heating cuts out on the thermostat, almost as if someone has hit the pipe with a mallet. :?: :?:

central heating pipe single bang and judder

Is it ok to solder a 10mm to 15mm reducer with a very short length of 15mm pipe on it and connect the 15 mm pipe into the towel radiator fittings. Or must I buy new...
