.....and the valve remains at its same "rest" position

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

When HW is then set to "off" at the programmer the boiler goes off.

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Followed your instructions exactly. Everything working as it should do in that scenario. Valve indicator at its "rest"/default position at HW point when power restored and water heating up as the boiler fires up. Valve indicator stays at this position.

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

When I say "the cylinder stat does click" I mean I turn it so that it clicks both on AND off - however, it has no effect in turning the boiler off. The boiler continues to heat up the water. One thing which occurs to me - when my programmer is set so that the HW and CH are both at the same...

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Hello again Matt. Happy birthday again! When this problem occurs what happens is this - The valve is stuck in mid-position. The water continues to heat up to scalding hot levels (obviously over-riding the cylinder stat). The heating stat becomes ineffective (ie: no clicking sound from...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow, by the way.

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Afraid not Matt. Could you possibly just explain, in simple terms if possible, exactly how this electrical problem is affecting the proper working of the valve. It would be hugely useful for when I phone up my heating firm who look after my system so that I can state my case to them.

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

It sticks intermittently - as I say, it has happened on 2 occasions over the past 4 days, always at mid-position. I am able to "un-stick" it by switching the power off at the boiler at the mains switch. This then causes the spring mechanism within the actuator to release the seized valve, and...

What else could be causing the problem?

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Anyway - I very much doubt you are on the same "team" as the "guys" I have spoken to who work for the firm i use have said that they are having frequent similar issues with these valves "sticking" open in mid-position.

Not sure what you mean by "makes me suspicious".

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Whole valve was replaced 4 years ago. Then in July of 2012 (6 months ago) the plastic actuator head was replaced with a new one. That worked okay until around 6-7 weeks ago. Then the same problem occurred (stuck in mid-position). The whole valve was again replaced, head and body. And now, over...

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Thank you Hazetimesfive. Someone else told me that as well. Any idea why the Drayton valves go faulty in this way so often? Surely by now the word on this particular fault would have got back to Drayton HQ by now and they would have done something about it (it can't just be me!). They are...

    Drayton MA1 3-port valve

Hello. Anyone else out there having problems with the Drayton MA1 mid-position Actuator on a Drayton 3-port valve on their central heating system? I have had 3 of these valves fitted in the last 6 months and am constantly having the same problem of them "sticking" in the mid-position after...

2 hot rads near the boiler. All others cold.

Thanks for the replies guys. All rads have been bled. I do need check the lockshield valves to make sure they are open - I assumed that they would be. It'll have to wait until I go back over to my mum's house. I was just wondering what the most likely scenario is that would be causing the...

2 hot rads near the boiler. All others cold.

All are turned on. The flow pipe is hot right up to the trv on the back bedroom rad (all trvs are turned up full). After this point the flow pipe (and return pipe) is cold.

2 hot rads near the boiler. All others cold.

Can anyone advise? My mum has a newish Worcester Bosh combi boiler located in the kitchen. The 2 rads closest to it are nice and hot (these are located in the bathroom above the kitchen). However the next rad along the line in the back bedroom is cold, and all rads thereafter are cold (3 cold...
