    Soil Pipe connectors

mine was glued in (as well as the stuck rubber seal) I prefer washing up liquid mixed with water to WD40 as it washes out afterwards and does not smell. I had a line of glue round the top of the pipe joint which I had to cut with a sharp knife before it would come apart.

    installing combi drain off valves

Are there any rules/ regulations as to where these must be placed in the system, or are they just there for convienience and a system would technically be OK without them. Does there need to be one on each pipe at the lowest point near the boiler? Currently I have one on a radiator that is...

Pipe bender or elbows. Which is best?

As I understand it, a bend = 300mm of strait pipe resistance and an elbow = 500mm, so there is definately a big advantage to bends.

Pipe bender or elbows. Which is best?

I think bends look fine and as I have the space and find it easier and also cheaper to bend pipe where possible, I'll continue doing it. Also I read that bends have much less resistance to water flow than elbows. Thanks for all your opinions though. I am happy that I have not done something...

Pipe bender or elbows. Which is best?

I am doing some plumbing pipe work in my house (it is mostly inside a cupboard) and have been bending pipes and using solder elbows only where necessary. Is this the right approach? When looking at other pipe installations done by plumbers, I have seen only straight pipe and lots of elbows. Is...

    Corsa Oil Light

It is a lot more common for the sensor to fail, rather than for there to be an actual problem. If she has driven it for more than 10 minutes and the engine has not died a very expensive death by now, it is more than likely just the sensor.

    RESETTING ENGINE ECU

What is the actual problem with the car. Reseting the ECU as you describe will acheive nothing.

    Laguna 52 plate power loss

buy one from e-bay gor around £40-50 and change it yourself. Just find the Bosch part number on yours and buy one the same.

Electric Installation in a small downstairs toilet

Just buy yourself a good (not bagless) vaccume cleaner (nilfisk or miele) with a certified HEPA filter. My miele 5280 is fantastic. It sucks up everything, including picking up the carpet when on full power. These dyson's or others that claim they have HEPA filters really do not and are crap...

    application x-reference

most motor factors do this. It is the sort of system that continuously needs updating/ checking to keep it accurate. GSF or euro car parts should be able to tell you what you want to know for any european cars. What car are you thinking of?

£400 to change the water pump  I hope they changed the cam belt and tensioner for that price. Did it overheat before water pump was changed. That could have caused this head gasket failure. £1500 to change HG    should be more like £500 including head...

    Tyre Tracking

Go to Just Tyres. Cheaper than quickfit and they will probably do the job correctly, unlike Sh*t Fit where you get a 17 year old who does not know which end of the spanner to hold working on your car.

Dont drive the car. You are lucky that yours failed without overheating. Dont now go and make a strait forward repair into an expensive one by driving till it overheats. Change the head gasket. Also be sure to change the thermostat to one with a small bypass hole/ valve in it. Change water pump...

    Vauxhall Astra - Valves

That doesnt sound right? What year is it? I know on other cars, a failing MAF sensor causes these symptoms.

Could well be a leaking clutch master or slave cylinder.

    Renault megane Engine management light

coil packs are a common failure. Maybe they disturbed it enough to make it fail when they changed the plugs. Ask them if they will put it on their diagnostic computer for free. Is it running OK, or are their other symptoms. Faulty Coil packs usually cause misfires/ power loss.

Buzzing noise from Almera power steering

I assume you have checked the PAS oil level. Low oil can do this. Otherwise it sounds like new PAS pump required. Has the car done quite high mileage?

which flue option is best? Through the wall, or flat roof

My new combi boiler is going to be installed in an outside cupboard, which has a flat felt roof over wood floorboards. The CORGI guy says to put a longer (1.5m) flue across the cupboard, and out through the 9" brick wall. He also wants to put a plume kit on, although strictly it does not need...

replacing old compression fittings with combi install

I will be replacing all rads, but not just yet. I have run the system with chemical cleaner in it (two lots), over the couple of months, and intend to talke the rads off and flush them before the combi is fired up. The pipes are now looking clean inside and the CORGI guy says he doesnt...
