    Breather membrane behind plater

We're doing a similar property only stone built. The few power points present have the galvanised back boxes corroded away with the dampness. Several attempts have been made in the past, none have worked. A similar device to the one you describe was found on the internal walls. Its a...

    mains inlet

Well, I just have large quantities of it to hand so its an expense thing as well.We use it in the animals water troughs and find the plastic pipe doesnt resonate as much as copper except as you say oilman, at the valve. just a thought.

    mains inlet

Is it feasable or legal to run 25mm MDPE (blue plastic) water pipe from the main up into the water tank in the loft. I figure it would be quieter and quicker than squeezing it through a 15mm copper tube?

    cant sweat a joint

As said, the pipes should be dry-any water will stop the process. Also all the joint surfaces sould be cleaned (wire wool) until shiny bare metal shows all over and should not touched again with bare fingers execpt to apply a uniform smear of flux. You will know when you're successful as the...

    Washer-dryers, still unreliable?

    My euro'sworth. Recycle

Ive got 60 (and counting) rubble sacks of old plaster hacked from the walls. Id rather see it usefully employed than put in a skip, but how? If it were packed down with a plate compactor could it serve as a sub base for concrete?

    Damp proof course guarantee

The injected dpc may well be ok but the dampness caused by salt can only really be cured by renewing the original plaster with a special type of plaster often refered to as "Lime Lite". Any dampproofer worth his salt ,if you excuse the pun, should know this. If the verdict is that the walls are...
