British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

Yeah, at some point we want to change the boiler, but when we do we'll probably go for a wall mounted one, (in which case the flue will be higher away from the car anyway! :P ). For now though the price of a new boiler is quite high, and moving from the current floor standing to a wall mounted...

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

Oki doke, consider my chain yanked and my wig stuck firmly back in place  So no fancy 'don't-bake-the-paint-off-the-wing-of-my-car' chimney for me then :( , and if the boilers not overheating, leave the overheat stat where it is - lol

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

Yeah tell me about it! You'd have thought that tehy could have got bricks that were at least 'close' to the original, in either colour or texture would have been a good start! Unfortunately this was done before we purchased the house, so had little say in it!

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

:?: :?: :?: :? What do you mean by this comment? I presume 'Ray' is 'Sooey'? PS I'm not wanting to swap my stats around at all, (regarding my other thread), purely asking if they are in the right place, and enquiring whether I am allowed to move them if they are not...

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

Oh ok, so it is not something that can be retro fitted to an existing boiler to redirect the hot exhaust? Oh well, it was just a thought :( For now we'll just leave the car parked further back I guess!

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Flue Extension

Between my neighbours house and mine there is a double width driveway, (ie our drives are side by side), and the boilers in each house have the flue discharge from the boiler in the kitchen through the wall to outside and over the drive ways at approximately thigh height; Unforunately...

British Gas / Ideal RD2 450 Sensor Layout

Just after some opinions here. I have recently opened the case on the boiler again due to (another) sensor failure. By chance I happened to to see the 'layout' page in the manual, available here: Ideal RD2 Manual - Section 12 - Page 15 My system is fully pumped, so table 6. Access to the...

    Drilling hole in Thin Stainless.

Looks like they recommend punching it out instead, (and the hole seems to be 35mm, so might be worth checking first!). On the page you linked to; Searching the site for that gives you this page: FIXA 2-piece Tool Set Hope that helps :) EDIT ...and thats what happens when you reply...

    Ideal RD2 450 - Thermistor

Thanks for the story Micky, an interesting read to be sure. Well this morning I woke up to a warm house :) However when we used the hot water the boiler started, and stopped, started, lit, and stopped... started and stopped, started, lit and stayed lit. So it's still having problems... does...

    Ideal RD2 450 - Thermistor

Ok... a truely bizarre development... In order to test the resistance of the thermistor I had popped the contacts for it out of the connector block. Checked it several times - open circuit. Flexed the wires in case of damage - open circuit. Decided to pack it all away and order a new...

    Ideal RD2 450 - Thermistor

Quick update of the readings on a cold (brrrrrr!) boiler, (sensors disconnected from the control PCB): Grey (Flue): 142 kOhms Blue (Return): 14.5 kOhms Red (Flow): Open Circuit So I know the Red / Flow thermistor is faulty, (as predicted), but but does anyone know what value it is...

    Ideal RD2 450 - Thermistor

Yup, thats the one; Flow, return, and flue (I believe) :) Been checking other things on the boiler as I wasn't sure it was going to be the sensors again, as I only changed the set a few years back! Of course in an ideal (no pun intended) world I'd remember where I had put the old...

    Ideal RD2 450 - Thermistor

Does anyone know off hand what resistance I should 'expect' on the thermistors on this boiler? I knew it once before (when I had to replace them), but have since forgotten :( I know that OC or SC would be obviously faulty, but I'd like to know roughly what range I should expect to see (cold...

    Vent valve required?

I actually did this a few weeks ago now, but I thought I would post a photo of the finished install in case anyone was interested :) Thanks again for all the advice! The vented pipes are on the outlet side of the pump, and came with the pipework that was fitted to the pump when I got...
