    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Agile, I've had so much conflicting advice from the various plumbers/heating engineers who have visited the house over the last 2-3 weeks that I'm beyond confused now. I first got 3 plumbers, unanimous advice was the existing 24kW boiler is too small for the 13 radiators+extension+hot...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Its a 4 bedroom detached with a fairly big living room (I think 3 x 9 meters) with one of the walls with just double glazed panels opening to the extension, and an extension which has 2 windows w/o double glazing. I have quotations for a Veissmann 35 kW combi, or this Vaillaint with...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

About to give the go-ahead on this one to replace my slightly dated conventional boiler and vented hot water tank. Would appreciate the experts' view, is it a good enough boiler to go for?. Thanks. Riz

    leaking pipe

I've had a little leak on the hot water discharge from the boiler just downstream of the pump, its copper piping soldered. I've had pretty good luck with self fusing tape (can be bought from B&Q/ScrewFix) for a fiver and would do a pretty good temporary repair.

vented Hot water cylinder, CH works fine, only lukewarm DHW

Thanks for all your help guys. I loosened the top screw a bit, got like a woosh of air for about a second and then water; that seems to have fixed the hot water. I had also raised the setting on the thermostat wrapped round the cylinder from 60 to 70, so, maybe that was what is giving me hot...

Thanks guys. Kevin: I've checked the thermostat, it is set at the same position its always been, 60 I think. all the pipe do get equally hot when CH and DHW are on simultaneously, its just the boiler switches off within 5 minutes or so when it is on hot water only timing. Kirk, are you...

vented Hot water cylinder, CH works fine, only lukewarm DHW

OK, Got some pictures now. First one: This seems to be the vent off point as it has a port with holes round the axis and a big screw on top, show in this pic: and for completeness: The hot water outlet from the top of the cylinder: Is this the point to bleed from?. Do...

vented Hot water cylinder, CH works fine, only lukewarm DHW

Thank you very much Kirkgas. I think your instructions are pretty clear, but, I don't want to take any chances. Will climb into the loft again to get some pictures of the pipework and the cylinder. If it is an airlock, does it only effect the heating side from the boiler, doesn't the...

vented Hot water cylinder, CH works fine, only lukewarm DHW

Have had problems with my hom central heating/DHW system since beginning of December. The problem was traced to a leak on the flange upstream of the pump which was replaced, at which point the system seemed to have worked fine for the last 2-3 week (save a tiny weep on a joint that drips like...

Replacing Drayton LP522 with Tempus 6

Hi, Same query - have an old LP522 which I'm thinking of replacing with the Tempus 7. Are they like for like swaps?. Also, how can I tell if my heating system is a "Fully Pumped" or "Gravity Fedd" hot water system "which does not permit heating to be on without hot water"?. Ny boiler is a...

    Adding another lamp to bathroom

I decided to add an extra fluorescent lamp in my upstairs ensuite bathroom. The bath had a single ceiling lamp with a switch outside the door. Few months ago, I got an electrician to install an extractor fan which is controlled by the same switch, I thought I'd simply connect the new...
