    Thanks for your comments Micky, I dont know how this is going to pan out but it is all in the interest of what seems to be a rare kit car.     Without reading all the posts I dont think anyone has mentioned the dangers or cutting through services such as pipework or cables, check before you start sticking grinders or saws up through the ceilings.

    As you were talking about routing out a recess and fitting pine, becuase this is hidden why not make up 8mm thick aluminium blocks instead the drill and tap them?

    Why fit new over old? If you have plasterboard already there just rip it out and fit fresh, if you are not careful the weight if the tiles on what you are suggesting may cause problems in the future, especially if you are fitting floor to ceiling.
