I've got some sheet steel that over a year has developed a light coat of rust, despite being indoors. What's the best non-flammable coating to use? It's out of sight so doesn't need to look pretty. Would car spray paint or lacquer do the job?

Couple of quick question if I may; how deep does the scut mix need to be - just enough to cover the mesh? Also, measuring by the bucket, do you mean to only mix one bucket's worth at a time?

Not yet. ;) I can isolate the hot, but not the cold; I assume the inputs don't intermix within the pump? It's the hot output I need to sort.

I've got a Nabis d12091 shower pump, and I've discovered a leak on the hot output. Before I take it apart and put it back together, I assume that his will be a seal by washer, rather than by threaded connection. If so, is there any particular washer I should be using for the connector? Last...

If it's bluebottles or the like, it is, as you say, down to a dead animal. Only one way to deal with that, really - locate the source. Was there ever a mouse problem? Don't worry about them eating the structure, you're safe there. ;)

I did all the radiators in my last place with the same satinwood paint I'd bought for the skirting. Looked fine, and did not discolour in the further few years I was there.
