    Parallel spurs?

To get around the four cables into one terminal problem, could I simply use a five way wago. So connect the four conductors into the wago, and then connect a new piece of twin and earth to the new socket terminals? Obviously I'd do this for Line, Neutral and Earth so a total of three 5-way...

    Parallel spurs?

So it seems that it's not actually wrong? But doesn't the fact that I'm running a wm and td from one of the spurs suggest I need to change it?

    Parallel spurs?

The four conductor wires are twisted together. Its really difficult to push them into the new socket, so another reason to make a change to the setup. I've had a bit more of a look this morning. I think I will be able to run another cable to one of the spurs (the one that wm and td plug in...

    Parallel spurs?

What if I sacrifice this supplying socket for a fused spur so that both parallel spurs are protected by the 13A fuse? Presumably I wouldn't be able to run wm and td together as this would exceed 13amps?

    Parallel spurs?

Thing is, if it is two spurs off one socket I think one of the spurs is what I plug the washing machine and tumble dryer into. If both are running at the same time, that'd be pulling quite a load wouldn't they? Not sure what the other spur is yet.

    Parallel spurs?

Hi All, I'm in the process of replacing socket and switches from the tatty old brass fittings to satin chrome ones (under orders from the missus). On removing a single gang socket in the utility room I see that there are four sets of twin and earth in there. I'm assuming two sets are the...

Yeah, you were pretty much useless!! :P Ha ha!! Seriously, I'm grateful for your help too - most appreciated. Now, who wants to take me on as their apprentice?!?!? :D

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Update: Job done! Cupboards are up. And seem to be staying up! Did things as John suggested; used a supporting beam below the units and then secured at the top via the mounting brackets. I also secured each unit with two fixings at the bottom just for extra security. All looks OK. Not...

OK thanks guys. Will give this a go at the weekend. Will report back when finished (or more likely when it starts going wrong, and I don't know my next move!! )

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Yes I was thinking of it the other way round and now realise how daft I was being. Just one more thing (for now anyway  ) In what order do I do things here? Do I mount the battern first at height i want bottom of cabinet and THEN measure up for the position of the mounting brackets...

You don't think 2 x 1 inch is too thick? What size would you guys use generally for this sort of thing? I haven't bought any of the materials yet so free to choose anything at this point. Thanks for the help. Edit: Just noticed in John's first post on this thread you suggested 2 x 1...

I was thinking of something like the link below. Too thick you reckon? (I'm referring to the wood, not me!! Is this where the phrase, "as thick as a plank" comes from!?!?!?) http://www.wickes.co.uk/kiln-dried-softwood-22x47mmx24m/invt/107159/

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Thanks again John, grateful for the support. Confused about installing the battern. If the battern is 2 inches think, doesn't the screw I use need to be 2 inches longer accordingly? Otherwise it wont go through the plug in the wall and cause it to expand. Or have I misunderstood this...

Trouble is, these things are nearly ten pounds a box so don't want to buy stuff I wont end up using. With regards to the support beam, you say 2 by 1 inch. Does it matter what it is? Just something cheap and cheerful from Wickes? How far in do you couter sink into the support beam?

OK I'll get the Fischer plugs that you said. So the Spax screws should be 5 x 50? The ones on screwfix are wood screws. Is that ok for nylon plugs?

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Think I'll go down the Fischer plugs route. What length are the 8mm ones? Looking at the pics, it seems you need to go longer then the actual plug length in order to get the 4 way expansion thing going? And what about the universal ones from Fischer? Reading some of the user reviews...

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Thanks for the item number. I was already considering those but wasn't sure they'd be long enough? What screws do I go for? Link again please? Am I using these plugs for the supporting beam too? These will need longer screws though, right (to allow for thinkness of beam??) I appreciate...

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

These are going up in the garage so cosmetic appearance is not that important. Obviously, staying in the wall is!! Thanks for this guys. Any chance of some links to the actual plugs to go for? Also, what size screws? Thanks again.

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Thanks for that John. Couldn't post a couple of links to those Fischer plugs could you? Toolstation have started doing them, but I can't tell one from another. Or Screwfix? With regards to the timber bearer, you say BELOW the cabinets? Do you mean a battern BEHIND the cabinets and then...

kitchen units directly on to thermalite

Hi guys, I want to mount some old kitchen units on the wall in my garage. The walls are just painted aerated (thermalite?) block. Question is, what fixings do i use to secure the units to the wall? Ive done a search and it seems some people use frame fixings, some use brown plugs, some use...
