Both! The diverter was an issue at one stage too- when ebver we ran the hot tap the radiators heated up!
We have to have the heating on to get hot water.
And the shower you mention is all too familliar...
The pressure switch basically checks the fan is running before allowing the...
Hi All,
I have bought a drain gulley & pipe (with converter of course due to the pipe size!)
(See below images)
This is to sort out the flooding on my drive whicgh is causing a nightmare!
Can anyone reccomend anything to help this be most effective as i've never done underground drainage...
Have you checked the U bend?
I would start there, get a bucket or washing up bowl under it and carefully take it off.
Give it a really good clean (obviously use another sink(!) and then replace it- then put about 500ml thick scented bleach down the sinkl & leave over night.
In the morning...
Put a cup of white vinegar (warmed) in the dispenser drawer and run a hot cycle with no clothes in, this should clear it out- this worked for me, it was just limescale and built up undissolved detergent.
If not have you checked the lint filter?
Low mains water pressure?
You could try your water supplier and ask them- i would start there.
Also-
Have you got isolation valves for the intake / output at the boiler? (the one you operate with a flat screwdriver) Check they are open fully, your pipes could be restricted by limescale too so...
Im looking to install external wall insulation as my housae does not have cavity.
Doing it inside is not an option as I would lose too much floor space - has anybody got experience doing external insulation and is it a job thats doable by DIY?
I would try rafter vents if you have not already

They will increase the air flow and reduce the problem. But whatever you do, make sure you dont leave it as it will only get worse & rot your timbers which will cause a...
I would just resurface it- give it a really good clean and use degreasant first- then it would probably need spraying with tar just before laying the new tarmac to help the top coat adhere to the existing- as long as its done properly it should be fine.
I would try a gravity flap on the outlet outside, this closes on itself when no warm air is being expelled.

I
have just had the free insulation and boarded it- it was fine for me, its easy enough to move to one side as you go along with your stilts- mine was like this:
As you can see in the image this worked really well- of course the stilts work equally well with boards on top if you only want a...
The way i would do it is either with some bathroom sealant or similar or you could use double sided tape to attach an L shaped bracket and then rest / attach to that...
Hi,
Yes you can use the loft legs at each end- they are available from b&q and about £1.80 each.
What are the dimensions of your loft though, & do you have a quick sketch to show the layout so i can get some idea.
The stilts are very strong and should be fine but would need some idea of...
Hey,
I just had my insulation too and boarded the loft today- with the thickness of the insulation i would say unless you intend the loft to be "habitable" i would not use joists as you will end up stacking up 2/3 joists to get to the right height.
The loft stilts are great- i was quite...
A number 5 jack plane should do it- or you can get a small block plane (depends on the use amount of material to plane.
If its more than 1/2 inch i would carefully jigsaw it first and finish with the plane- dont forget to deburr it with some medium sandpaper toojust to take any sharp edges...
Good idea but floorspace inside is at a premium as it is- would feel like an indiana jones movie if the walls got any closer
Anything else you can think is appreciated.
