The phase out of ice engines..

Depends a lot on your circumstances, really. Can you charge at home? Do you do a lot of long runs? What kind of ICE car would you be replacing? Do you tow much? Personally, I wouldn't have a hybrid. They seem to be the worst of both worlds to me, although some are better than others...

Nissan X Trail Aventura 2008 oil leak

I think at 2008, that will be a T31 X-Trail with the Renault engine? I can't help with the question, but when we had a T30, this was a very good forum with some really helpful / knowledgeable folk on it: https://www.x-trail-uk.co.uk/forums/t31-problems-bugs.9/

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

It is. And there will be more of it. Computers are just so much better at doing stuff. My old car (36 years) had "one touch" on the driver's window. About as cool as it got in 1989! But it needs a separate switch, separate loom and several relays to do it. The complete wiring loom for that...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Well, at least they held their hands up and sorted the Bluelink for you! But yes. I expect the updates will settle down after a bit. Mine does 2-3 a year now. That said, with anything that runs software, that'll be the way of it from now on, I'm afraid. Just like Microsoft / Apple etc all...

    Fiat Tipo timing belt change.

That's why tightening to a torque isn't an exact science. When you pull on the torque wrench, you have no idea how much of that torque is overcoming friction in the threads, or between the underside of the fastener and its washer, or a bit of swarf down the hole, or whatever. The values are...

    Fiat Tipo timing belt change.

Do you know the thread size and pitch? There are standard tables online for recommended torques for threaded fasteners. If the water pump bolts are (say) M6 x 1.0, 5Nm would seem a bit low? Depends on how much thread engagement you have though. Yes, we have to specify fastener torques for...

    Fiat Tipo timing belt change.

People do get hung-up on tightening torques these days. It's a good idea, obviously, but it's not an exact science. I tend to torque joints where a gasket is involved, to try and get an even clamping force on the gasket, and I tend to torque small, fine-threaded cycle fasteners because they're...

    Incorrect Speed Limit Change Signage?

That last bit is a problem everywhere that you have narrow, single track roads. If everyone followed that rule to the letter, nobody would ever be able to overtake a cyclist on the single track roads round here.

    Incorrect Speed Limit Change Signage?

The question remains though, what percentage of drivers, exceeding the speed limit along it, do you think genuinely don't know the speed limit? I live in rural Cumbria. We have a National Speed Limit single track road over a place called "Cold Fell". It's a common rat-run for traffic heading...

    Incorrect Speed Limit Change Signage?

You're assuming that the excess speed was down to not knowing the limit though. I think a great many people who say "I didn't know" when pulled over, actually know perfectly well.

    CENTRAL LOCKING

We have a 2017 Skoda Kodiaq and the door locks are pants! Two have failed so far. Relatively easy to replace though.

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Ours isn't. But I'm guessing that if you're out for a walk, it might be handy to tell the hob to come on and start warming the stew that you left on it, ready for your return? Octopus is offering free electricity tomorrow afternoon between specified hours. Maybe a "smart" hob would be useful...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

So.. get rid of them if it's too much of a problem for you? Nobody's forcing you to have a PC or a phone, or a sat-nav. I think they still sell road atlases and A-Zs...

They're beating a path to plenty of other shores besides ours. In fact, if we don't get our national finger out, we might be hopping in those dinghies and heading off to look for a better place to live ourselves!

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Work bought two identical EVs at the same time. I got one, the Service manager got the other. Mine gets a hard time, because I do mega-miles. They took it off me when I hit 50,000. The Service manager had left the company by then, and his car had only 18.000 on it, so they wanted to put me...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

It's an excellent question! The EU Commission is looking at this right now. Some sort of obligation on manufacturers for lifetime security updates for vehicles. Up until now, manufacturers have done it anyway, because the reputational damage resulting from not supporting one of its own...
