    Cordless mini chainsaws - ?

Thank you @foxhole. Sharpening the chain is the same as a bigger saw, you just have to buy smaller files. My first saws didn't have any lubrication on the bar and so I used to keep squirting a bit on with an oil can but that wasn't very satisfactory if you were up a tree with quite a few bits to...

    Cordless mini chainsaws - ?

Thank you @Stivino. She has sent me this link : https://share.google/g1qKOzeAZepPaIhQA It's brushless with 2 batteries and the charger and 2 chains which are probably the same length as the ones that I have with my old mini saws. I like the fact that it has got an oiler on it as well. My 2...

    Cordless mini chainsaws - ?

Thank you very much @Stivino. That was very helpful. I do have cordless drill and screwdriver and so I'll have a look at what options (if any) I have with regard to same batteries, charger etc. I had a look at your WORX link and only found one brushless saw and that is a bit pricey. But thanks...

    Cordless mini chainsaws - ?

I bought my first chain saw 50 years ago, a Stihl 041AV, which I still have, to deal with the Dutch Elm problem on the farm, logging, fencing, etc. I now have 2 of those and a smaller "Husky" and I also have a petrol pole saw which is quite handy. I'm no expert but have plenty of experience of...

    Cistern issue.

Thankyou @ChrisJP. Yes, quite a lot of the modern stuff today creates more problems than what we used to have to work with. Take all the gadgetry that we have in modern vehicles as an example. I don't use half of what is available in my pickup. It's a work vehicle for goodness sake - if it aint...

    Cistern issue.

UPDATE. Firstly, my sincere apologies for this late update but lots of other things have been going on. But I am happy to report that I think I have been very lucky. I removed the flush valve and then removed the seal, really just to make sure that I would be buying the correct size but I could...

    Cistern issue.

Thank you @Stuckinarut. Sorry, I am only just getting used to the idea that there are 2 valves in the cistern ! I did work on one of the other cisterns a couple of years ago and the flush valve was operated by a push rod but the cable mechanism looks as if it might be more complicated. Is it one...

    Cistern issue.

Brilliant - thanks very much for your help @Stuckinarut. Is there likely to be a model number anywhere on my valve so that I can cross-refernce it ?

    Cistern issue.

Thanks for that @Stuckinarut. I have just Googled Siamp cistern valves and there are even some videos on YT that may help me and they aren't silly money so it might be easier for me, as a non-plumber, to buy a complete replacement if they are reasonably easy to fit.

    Cistern issue.

Thank for that @Stuckinarut, that is very helpful. Another anomaly that I have discovered is that Wickes appear to be calling it a Trenton cistern etc now whereas when we bought ours (11 years ago) the Wickes catalogue called it a Trento. We still have the catalogue and a clip of the relevant...

    Cistern issue.

I need to have a closer look at all this. Nothing shows when I try to open sheet 2. I think my cistern may be entirely different.

It does fill to it's entirety but it has just become very slow. I will try and get some photos. tomorrow.

    Cistern issue.

I have an annoying problem that has just started on our Wickes Trento dual flush toilet cistern and wondered if it can be fixed. Firstly, it started to get really slow to re-fill after flushing. Then a couple of days later the heavy flush wouldn't work, it flushed but only a similar amount that...

    Iroko gates.

The problem is that even where I have sanded the staining of the timber the staining goes deeper as shown here and surely if I apply more stain then the differences will still show ?

    Iroko gates.

Thank you for that. Unfortunately the advice given on that site has not been adhered to and I am left with what is basically a reclamation job.
