No i won't ask as i have a good selection of beads lol. The floor looks a good level to start with so just finish my hygrometer tests and time to get messy.

Thanks. I will take my time, no rush. When you say "bead " what exactly do you mean? Would you tap with mallet rather than twisting/pushing the tile?

I always take on advice and i agree the people who work with it will buy what they like ( or what the customer can afford) Everyone has their favourite and because i have used Bal before and after advice on here i chose Bal again.

Ok, i assume you are just in from the pub? Just because i ask the advice of the "pros" forum members, does not mean it is beyond my ability, it means i like the opinion of others, but as can be seen on these forums there is a great deal of opinions, even Bal can't agree on how to apply APD...

"looks to me it might be a job, just over there head....is there exspansion joints in the screed/door thresholds etc.. " Why? And Anhydrite screed on the area we are talking requires no expansion joints between rooms. The tiles however will at each door way. A DIYer is a very loose...

Thanks Richard, Would it still be worth a flat skim on back of tiles too? p.s Why don't they do a 30cm long trowel, would make life easier on 30 x 60 tiles. (or do they?)

ok, i,ll give it a go. With the trowel sizes. I have a 20mm (width of notched) round trowel with 15mm depth and centres approx 28mm, and the same but 20mm notched with 10mm depth and approx 20mm centres. I know earlier it was said to use the first mention, but it looks a bit big. Would...

Not having access to a moisture tester. Last night i taped some cling film to the floor in several areas. Removed today and had no sign of moisture ( under floor heating was not run). Is this a good sign as to moisture content or not really? If not any idea where one could be hired. HSS only...

Does anyone know of the availability and who may hire Tramex meters or other meters that can test moisture content in screed?

FWIW: Weber say, "Seal the floor with weber PR360 repeatedly until no more is absorbed and allow the primer to dry before tiling (1 hour)." But that is the Weber product not the Bal obviously. I guess just make sure it is well covered. Starting to think a carpet would have been easier and...

I Did, they now say first diluted as the screed can suck it in too much. However they said an un diluted would be fine too on both coats. Part of email: "The first coat of primer should be diluted 1:1 by volume with water and allowed to dry to the touch before applying a second undiluted...

Why do Bal contradict the APD installation guide. Here Prime with 2 coats neat BAL Prime APD or BAL Primer and allow to dry. Then fix tiles with BAL Single Part Flexible or BAL Rapidset Flexible http://www.bal-adhesives.co.uk/technical/faq#q8 Yet an email from tech support say 1 coat...

Hi Thanks for the offer. I decided to go with bal single part flex. Thought i,d better pay for the "name" as i,m no pro and i,m on Anhydrite and its a big area. Hoping the expense is justified. Busy doing the prep. Sanding, sanding, sanding. Oh and watching Youtube for some tips lol :o

I assume these are fixed with adhesive. Due to the under floor heating i can't go screwing things down in door ways?

Hi, yes i was just looking at the single part flex. Probably the way to go. I will lay tiles all in one direction Dictated by the hall way. All rooms are square/rectangles no L shapes. I was thinking of expansion joints at doors. Would a silicon joint be the best idea with tiles stopping...

Yes, i,m not really one to cut corners as i know quality is always a better option. I just wonder with Bal though, especially the cost compared with Weber ( 2.5 times more expensive at least) That is quite a difference if you require a pallet of the adhesive. i guess it is a decision i need...

HI, it is wet under floor heating. The Screed finish is pretty flat. Can you explain the trowel use, i.e when applying should you trowel at say 45% rather than vertical if that makes sense? I know Bal is probably the best name but are we paying for that?

I want flex as i have under floor heating. The tiles are matt finish but must be sealed already as i have tried ketchup, red wine, dirt etc and it all sits on top and wipes straight off. So 13mm depth on adhesive? Is that a standard trowel size if i look top buy one? Like these...

Well i,ve posted before but just looking into what adhesive and primer is best suited and good value. The floor is Anhydrite screed,. laying 30 x 60 porcelain tiles. Weber are doing a good deal per pallet compared to the Bal ptb flex. Another question would be should i use a solid bed when...
