    Double Glazing Seals

If your double glazed units had failed and steamed up then you only need to change the double glazed units. You DO NOT have to have new frames fitted. If this is the case then you've been stitched up mate. :? If you look at the window frames (Usually inside on newer windows) you'll see...

    FENSA ?

Not at all. A company that is FENSA registered is a company that registers all of its installations with FENSA for a fee. FENSA then issue a certificate to that company which it then passes onto the customer. It does not mean that the company is any good at fitting windows. FENSA very...

    Bitumastic Paint

I've got a problem with very slight damp on the inside front wall of the house. A few months ago I stripped off all the plaster back to bare brickwork and it's been left to dry out ever since. I've checked the wall constantly and there doesn't appear to be much damp at all. Parts of the...

glue rather than drill upvc door

Door knockers are usually drilled through the UPVC door panel. As long as you are careful the UPVC panel shouldn't split. I can't see it staying on for very long if you use glue. I wouldn't use super glue personally because the glue may react with the UPVC and melt it?

    FENSA ?

You need to check with your local building control office as Keyplayer says but it really isn't cheap at all. I've heard they can charge £400+ per day for their services? :? If you do nothing you may get stung when you come to sell your house

Have you ever rescued an animal?

Yeah. She either squashes them or sends the dog in to eat them. Our dog has a taste for spiders and beetles. Quite fond of spiders myself as they're supposed to help keep the other little nasty creepy crawlies at bay and I kept taratula's as a kid.

Have you ever rescued an animal?

Is a butterfly an animal? I've rescued a few spiders from the missus. They're classed as arachnids and a type of animal (I think?) :)

    Are speed cameras racist?

I live in Stoke-On-Trent and I can remember watching an episode of Police Camera Action (I think it was?) a couple of years back on ITV. Part of this episode was filmed from Stoke and showed the local Traffic Police carrying out random stop checks on a stretch of road leading into the city...

    eBay feedback -RANT-

This happens quite a lot when I buy from PowerSellers with Ebay shops. The last time I sent a seller a message asking for feedback it took him 8 weeks to respond to it  Some must be too busy to read their messages?

    smacking kids

Well I dont have a criminal record and I dont go about treating people like idiots. Has it occurred to you that some people are just born to be scumbags? To me being smakced was a nromal part of growing up and I did have a lot of respect for my parents.

    smacking kids

When I were a kid I had two punishments. The First was a Grounding (usually for a week at a time) and the second was a good hiding (usually from my mum who wore the trousers in our house). I was only ever smacked for things like bad-mouthing the next door neighbour but more often than not I...

    HELP - Broken Safety Glass

Toughened Safety glass will sometimes stay intact when broken. If it is Toughened glass it will collapse and fall out everywhere as soon as you try to remove it. make sure you put dust sheets down first because if this stuff gets into carpets you'll be picking tiny glass splinters up for...

    Folding sliding doors

Our company once quoted a major pub chain for about a dozen sets of these doors supplied to us from this very same company to fit in various wine bars around the city. They are stupidly expensive which is probably the reason why we didn't win the contract. I don't think they are a DIY Fit...

What Mk is me Mam's Fiesta?

If its a 2000 model it will either be a mark 4 or mark 4.5 (according to Ford) Our Zetec-S (with Triangular headlights) is a 2000 model (Mark 4.5) but some people refer to our car as a Mark 5 which it isn't. The Mark 4.5 is basically a revision to the Mark 4 and as far as I am aware, the...

    Pressure Dropping Constantly

I cant help you but I've got exactly the same Baxi boiler and I think I'm having exactly the same problems with mine. There is hot water but the pressure keeps dropping down to zero. Ours is also making weird gurgling and hissing noises when it fires up. Somebody should be able to answer soon...

    smacking kids

I have to say that I sort of agree with what Joe-90 is trying to say. As kids are getting wrapped up in more and more cotton wool we do generally seem to be heading towards more of a yob culture although I also think that a lot of parents should be held more accountable for this. If you look...

Suspected leaking radiator - Ford Fiesta 2001

I'd use de-ionised water only! Ordinary water has lime in it which furrs up inside the radiator and other parts over time. I usually mix to a ratio of 50/50 water and coolant

Suspected leaking radiator - Ford Fiesta 2001

He did say that the coolant was on the floor under the radiator though. You're right about the resevoir cap leaking but normally you can see the steam coming from under the bonnet as the water is under a lot of pressure.
