New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

Hi, yes I've chamferred with a flat file. The adjustable bend on the right side of the IC is because the drainage run deviates round a corner. Would using too much lubricant cause a leak? Btw, the actual joints within the flexibend is seeping also which makes me wonder whether it's defective.

New uPVC Underground Drain Fittings Seeping

So I've decided to relay my failing 1920s clay underground drainage run (8m in length) with 110mm uPVC fittings after watching some videos on how it's done, but I'm just wondering whether I should be carrying out water tests as I go along (a couple of joints are seeping (not leaking as in drip...

    Sound Proofing Floor with sand

Sorry to dig this up, it's just I'm thinking of doing the same and wanted to reply to this and say the sand would only escape if not laid on plastic membrane shaped like a tray. Didn't see the point of starting a new thread as doesn't look like these sort of threads regarding soundproofing...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Well I'm about 1/3 way through the scraping so I may as well carry on because there's no real way of saving any time whatever I do, and believe me, scraping is a lot easier for me than getting plasterboards from A to B and hanging them without help. Besides, everything I've done would be so in...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Hi roy, thanks for the idea, but this will be plan B if the 2nd attempt at skimming doesn't work out! I've come this far and personally I much prefer the sound of a solid wall when tapped, then plasterboard. I've estimated it will take about 4-5 hours getting all this skim off as it's generally...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Moderator feel free to move this to the DIY Disasters section  Seriously though, I'm gutted now. The thought of having to take all that off with scraper and club hammer *sigh* Just pray it doesn't happen the 2nd time. Well you live and you learn. Thanks all for help. Good thing I know...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

EDIT: Definitely not going to get all of it off it would take me a week at least. The cracks are there (in numerous parts), but most are not bad enough to make the plaster loose so it's going to have a be a make good patching job. Sorry for all the questions, but any ideas on the best way to...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Yeah well, I think I'm going to have to do the same then, just use loads of water and then skim immediately after it. Seemed to work for me last time on sand and cement render. Biggest problem I face now is getting all that skim off because it's actually not coming off that easy. I'm actually...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Stevethespreader, thanks for your reply mate. I had no choice but to leave it because Chrismas was just days off and there was no way I could fit the skimming into my schedule. I really didn't think it would be that much of a problem if PVAed. Well, I'll def know for next time then. It did have...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Hi ree: No, I must have done the hardwall correct because Stevethespreader told me how to do it here: http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/internal-blockwork-pva-or-just-dampen-it-down.419487/#3256789 He said to dampen down which I did (infact with copious amounts of water), and I had no...

    Skim Cracking Despite Thorough Prep

Hi, I've just had a bash at skimming one of my bedroom walls and I'm very happy with the result despite being a bit of a first timer, except for the fact it has cracked quite badly in some parts. I'm not too concerned as I can fix it later with poly filler and the wall should look as good as...

    Drip marks on new plaster

Are you sure they are drip marks and simply not areas which haven't been adequately polished up during the trowelling stages? If not, all i can think of is sealing the area multiple times with PVA 1:5, letting each coat fully dry before applying the next and try painting again?

    Plasterer didn't tape joins

Interesting thread, but carl1t0, you say you plasterboarded the walls before your friend came to skim, but I'm surprised you didn't tape the joints as well at the same time as you were fixing the boards  I bet you're sorry you didn't now :(. Are you sure you can't do the skimming...

    Plaster or plasterboard?

Yeah, I'd also go for the traditional way over plasterboard which has that nasty hollow sound when tapped. It's also an excellent insulator. Batten out the wall with 10mm strip wood and make sure it's as level as you can possibly get it and set them out at intervals as long as your feather edge...

Producing Electronic Music With FL Studio

Anyone else make their own songs on the computer? I do  Been tinkering with this software for nearly 10 years and still can't play a note (only kidding). I have a couple of major songs in the works and at the moment are sounding pretty decent but mixing them is tough work :(. I don't...
