    Earthing kitchen sink

Hi, Appreciate your replies guys but it's not what I expected lol. Thought you were both going to say something like, no problem, just snip it and leave it as the laws for grounding sinks are no longer in effect . However, to clarify, I'm fitting a ceramic sink and also, I have attached...

    Earthing kitchen sink

Excuse me for digging up this old thread, but thought it would be better replying to this one than making a new one just for a simple answer that I need. I'm due to remove an old stainless steel kitchen sink and there is an earthing cable (green and yellow stripes) connected from the sink to...

Temp Capping Off Water Pipe With Pics

Hi seco services, thanks very much for telling me all this. I would never have known otherwise and would have run into problems. I just don't get it though, I would have thought that small holes would be for low pressure (I acknowledge that they are not though). But think of low pressure water...

hot water supplied by a hot water cylinder with tanks in the loft. Yea, definitely gravity fed central heating system. So, are there two different kinds of valve, full bore and something else?

I don't know what a gravity supply would be and how would I check? And what is a full bore isolation valve? Please advise when you can. I'll be in here again tomorrow evening. Thanks :)

Temp Capping Off Water Pipe With Pics

Smashing matey, you've been a great help. Have been looking at this too, it has the same model you're talking about too Here it is, incase anyone else wishes to do the same work in the future: http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/diy_plumbing_isolation_valve_fitting.htm Glad there's no...

Temp Capping Off Water Pipe With Pics

Sorry to be a pain, but the isolation valves have to be soldered don't they? I don't mind, suppose it's only a blow torch I'll need if so and that sticky bonding stuff, but the main worry is it's right next to the gas supply meter :(. Will it be safe do you think?

Temp Capping Off Water Pipe With Pics

Thanks very much guys for the quick replies. Yes, you're right, it'll definitely need a new washer putting in there, but I'll use ptfe tape first. It doesn't matter too much if it leaks though as the plumber will do the rest when the new sink is installed. However, if he's going to charge me...

Temp Capping Off Water Pipe With Pics

Hi, Just wondered if this >>> would work as a temp cap on the copper pipe shown in the picture below?. It doesn't have to be soldered on right? Plumber has quoted me over £100 to take out the sink and temp cap off the supply pipes! So, I'm thinking of doing this myself. However, I don't want...

    The 2 in 1 Toilet :D

Ahh I've given it away by forgetting to take the sticker off :(. Thought there were only DIYers and builders on this site, not private detectives lol. Still, just wanted to show you what the DIY work is like in BG. It must just be their way of doing things, I guess us English people are...

    The 2 in 1 Toilet :D

The polystyrene was put there because the new cistern wasn't secure (kept wobbling all over the place). What do you think? Worst job ever? Do I need to say more? lol

Power Off Before Corded Drilling? Impossible!

Power Off Before Corded Drilling? Impossible!

Hi all thanks. Btw, I don't want to go spending money if a cheaper model will do the job just as effectively so which model do you reckon I should buy? I think it depends on the depth of the wires etc. I mean it's just a normal wall (presumably 225mm?) on a semi detached house. Problem with...
