What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

But that's not what you were claiming. You were claiming it was better for the environment. Have you gone off the idea of trying to back that claim up now, so you've changed the subject?;)

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

No, he's right! I bitterly regret getting an EV, every time I want to drive the length of the country without stopping... ...which is "never"! :ROFLMAO: Bless them, it's all they've got. Before getting an EV I looked at all the things I typically want the car to do. Strangely, "overtake...

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

For many more, there is no need to do the maths because it would give them an answer that they don't like... ;) Strangely, they always seem to decline the opportunity to prove me wrong when I challenge them. I'd have thought they'd want to put it to bed once and for all, don't you? (...what...

    Caliper mounting thread repair advice

Oh, I'll manage... It won't be long before Johnny comes out with some more BS to entertain us. In the meantime, I might see if I can find a few YouTube videos to see if I can learn how to take a wheel off... ;)

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Are you going to have another go at proving this "fact", then? (Only...your last one wasn't up to much...) :ROFLMAO: Go on! I'm sure if you try hard enough, you'll be able to find some sort of incredibly uncommon niche scenario where it might be true!

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:  I take it you've given up on the carbon footprint argument then...?;)

...but obviously not enough to actually replace the upright...:ROFLMAO: Are you being willfully thick here or what?! :ROFLMAO: You're falling into the same trap as Munroast and the others who seem to assume that once a car's first owner sells it on, it somehow magically disappears! What...

    Turbos on 1 litre engines

It's worth putting some numbers on it, I think. Then breaking down the "transport" slice of the pie:

Yours is, (I'll use a euphemism here), a "minority view", shall we say? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenic_petroleum_origin#:~:text=The%20abiogenic%20petroleum%20origin%20hypothesis,naturally%20produced%20by%20inorganic%20means. Good luck...

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

You're not looking at the bigger picture though, and you're taking a special case. What's your old van - A Berlingo / Partner? The manufacturing footprint of an e-Partner/Berlingo today, will be less than 12 tonnes. More like 10. Beware of taking your figures from older studies. As the...

    Turbos on 1 litre engines

Yeah... I think that's been debunked plenty of times now. If it were true, we wouldn't be wasting massive amounts of resource trying to extract it from shale and tar sands, would we? We'd be moving on to the next new "gusher" that the planet had thoughtfully provided...

    Sanding new brake discs

Of course not! Car manufacturers design brakes with speed adjustment in mind. The type approval regulations even specifically demand it. They usually last for many thousands of "speed adjustments"...

Ah... non-standard thread then  . I'd need the pitch as well. If a "metric M9 coarse" was a standard fastener, I think the pitch would be between 1.25mm and 1.5mm. Assuming it's the lowest kind of "high tensile" you can get (Grade 8.8) and assembled dry, that 21 lbft figure isn't a...

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

They could indeed! It seems to have worked with fags, up to a point. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed they haven't already done that, to be honest. I absolutely accept that the country is skint and that there's limited funding available to provide positive incentives for EVs, but...

    Sanding new brake discs

Yes, we often see that with cars here in Cumbria. The brake lights go on but the car doesn't slow appreciably. As you say, just "comfort braking".
