    Ceiling mounted cabinet

JohnD I always intended to use hanging rails as the cabinet is designed for them. The question is it will fail where I attach them. the adjustable hooks +1

    Ceiling mounted cabinet

Yes I thought about this but wondered if there would be be enough strength in the middle. The distance between the door and perpendicular wall is 170cm. The wall is thin, so I'm not expecting there to be much support used. Well ultimately another flat.

Semidetached - can hear steps on f/boards - soundproofing?

There isn't much this guy can do if is the interface not the wall cavity that its the problem. if there is something that transfers the sound well that can't be removed, putting insulation beside it won't help.

Semidetached - can hear steps on f/boards - soundproofing?

My sister has an old town house, which is split into flats. The floorboard are real old warped and have worm holes in. The creaks and cracks from the flat above are creepy.

Semidetached - can hear steps on f/boards - soundproofing?

you are right but your logic is wrong Rock wool block out a lot, 'rigid' fibre glass performs better still. However blocking out multiple frequencies is not a single material job. You have absorption and diffusion. Geometry is also important for diffusing...

Semidetached - can hear steps on f/boards - soundproofing?

sorry I should have been clearer in-between should completely filled end to end, but parallel within the cavity you can have an air gap. There isn't an added advantage to touching both sides.

Semidetached - can hear steps on f/boards - soundproofing?

I investigated proper sound proofing once. Believe me it is not trivial, you basically need a room with in room the wall have studs alternating sides so the insulation is continuous, and this in addition to breeze block walls on the outside, and you can't have any interfacing (such as floor to...

    Ceiling mounted cabinet

Hello. I just found out the wall I wished to mount a kitchen cabinet, doesn't have studs. No it is not from the 70's, this is new build, but it does a similar design to paramount style walls (bloody developers!) , in other words it has a cardboard honeycomb structure in side, and is...

2 gang -> socket and separate appliance switch (not cooke

Almost a switch with a FCU, and a socket that naturally has its own switch. Like this one: http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=208578 But with modern with the screw holes on both sides.

Who is 'they'? Are you talking about the modular system? I think it is perhaps a bit excessive for this.

2 gang -> socket and separate appliance switch (not cooke

Yes I was just thinking how cluttered things are. On the other end I have this floor level fan heater from Dimplex, that I'll never use, as it smell horrible, but have no urgent need to remove it. It has three switch one for on/off and two settings. This is not a big yuppie kitchen. It isn't...

2 gang -> socket and separate appliance switch (not cooke

LoveRocket got it right. I think I will follow his advice if that is that case. Yes it is surprising. I found one product that could would work in chrome finish (not what I want), with limited info. It wouldn't be FCU, which I definitely want. Anyway no bother it is in the corner, not too...

2 gang -> socket and separate appliance switch (not cooke

2 gang can mean different things, it seems, I'm talking with the full width of two standard single plates. Is there such a thing? I'm having trouble finding anything that is not with a big red switch and "Cooker" on it and for 40 amp. There are enough points in my mains ring in the...
