Tiling onto MDF - Question and Best Practice

Hello everybody. We've been in the process of moving the bathroom around a bit such that a new stud wall (made of MDF) will now support the over-bath shower. The head of the bath will be butted up against this stud wall. We've also put up new (unplastered) plasterboard for the side of the...

    Removing integrated dishwasher casing/door?

Hi I have searched but cannot find any information about this, so hoped someone could help please. Some old mortar landed on top of my integrated d/w which is not yet fitted, but is operational. As I was trying to retrieve it some fell down the side of the d/w between the inner and outer...

    mixed material path

Hi Thermo Just to let you know I have now finished the path. I did as you suggested with the base, laying and timber shuttering. It went down really well - the timber worked brilliantly to keep the falls accurate and I've had loads of complements. So thanks again Amanda :D

    mixed material path

Hi I hope someone can offer some advice please on the best method of laying a mixed material path. I'm planning on using victorian blue pavers and cobble stones in my front garden path. The path is about 90cm wide and 3.3m long. Pedestrian use only. I'm using these materials because this...

    Decorative creasing tiles?

Hi Texmex Thats brilliant advice thank you. I had no idea about laying the blue bricks differently so I'm glad you told me. Its also useful to know about the vacuum effect, so I guess the mortar needs to be reasonably moist for this to happen. I did notice that, when I couldn't get...

    Is scotchguard worth it?

Hi I had pale pink carpet downstairs and paid to have it professionally cleaned and scotchguarded a few years ago. It did come up really clean but got dirty again very quickly, (within 6 months) so for me it wasn't worth having it done. However, I don't remember it being as expensive as...

Hi there - I hope someone can help me please. We've seen the above semi-integrated machine for sale in the local paper and wondered if anyone had an idea of how old this machine is? Unfortunately the seller doesn't know as he's selling it on behalf of someone else. Also I'd be interested...

    Design Ideas

Hi I agree with the above, also there are some brilliant books with garden designs suitable for every size and type of garden. I saw some in WHSmIth for example. I can't remember the exact title, but there were two where each page had a different garden design. Some of the garden design books...

    New Curtain Rail

Hi Jaffakake In my mum's house which is quite new, there is a concrete lintel above the window. This is VERY hard to drill into. I used a good masonry drill bit, one of the ones that are sold separately and say they are 'super good'. You'll also need a drill with hammer action and good wall...

    gaps between plasterboard too big?

Hello With the advice of the helpful guys on here I did plasterboard the ceiling and partition wall. And will get a plasterer to skim. I read that you should leave 5mm gaps between the plasterboard. Even though I was using small boards it was difficult to do the ceiling, and in some parts the...
