    Window installers make a mistake

...and you know this how? :? Exactly how it happened is this.... Moved to new house, knowing it needed new windows. Having investigated the purchase of double glazing I decided to go with a windows advice service who employ architects to come assess your requirements and then send out...

    Window installers make a mistake

Eh, no. The company made a mistake. We don't have what we asked for. However, we are willing to live with what we have, which will probably work out cheaper for teh company anyway. I'm not expecting 50% off or anything like that, just a reasonable compensation for their mistake. I should...

    Window installers make a mistake

Hold on, you think I'm taking the ****? :? The windows were fitted this week. I had sent my kids and wife to her parents whilst the work was done, and I was working whilst the install took place. The front windows were supposed to be white/brown, the back windows were supposed to be...

    Window installers make a mistake

noseall, Yes I have a sheet and they certainly should have. It was organised through these guys, http://www.windowadvicecentre.co.uk/double-glazing.htm, and it was their job to pass on the correct information, so I'll go through them first to find out who messed up. If it is the company then...

    Window installers make a mistake

Actually, that's kind of what I meant. Play off the cost of replacing with a smaller amount of compensation. We have the balance to pay and it would be helpful (for our kitchen project) to keep some of that cash. How much (% cost per window wise) would be reasonable to push for.

    Window installers make a mistake

We've just had some PVC windows installed in a house we've moved into. We got a number of quotes via of the double gazing advice companies and so got a good price. Via them we specified precisely what we required. For our windows at the back of the house we asked for white PVC on the inside...

    Possible supporting wall questions

I'd just never heard of sticking two beams together with screws and glue. However if this is good practice then that's fair enough.

    Possible supporting wall questions

Hi, We are looking to knock down a wall between our dinning room and kitchen. At first glance it appeared to be a stud wall only. However, having talked to neighbours and noticing that the joists run perpendicular to it, it seems that it might be supporting. The span from kitchen to the end...

    Moving a drain cover

Hi, We are wanting to create a play area for the kids on the garden. Our plan is to put rubber chips down (between 5 and 10 cm deep) to create a safe surface to play on. However, in the area that we are wanting to put this there is a small black (square) inspection chamber. It is...

    Hand prints on metallic paint

Thanks John. I intend to attack the marks at the weekend. Can you recommend a stronger type of car shampoo to use?

Will it be ok to just T-cut the bonnet panel, or would that look odd.

    Hand prints on metallic paint

Due to our growing family, and all the paraphernalia that entails , we need to get a bigger car, as the boot space is no longer big enough. So I need to get our current car looking it's best. It's in good nick except for some hand prints that my son has managed to leave on the bonnet! We were...
