Metal window sill - what sort of paint do I need?

Thanks both, I happened to pass a Leyland SDM earlier this morning and they sold me a Johnstones all purpose primer - it mentions metal on the can but isn't specifically for metal, here's a link to it: http://www.johnstonespaint.com/paint-types/undercoats-a-primers/all-purpose-primer.html...

Metal window sill - what sort of paint do I need?

Hi, My window frames and sills are in a shocking state and I need to repaint them. Most are wood so I know what to do with them, but I have one that is metal. Is there anything I need to do different? I thought I probably need to get a different primer, but after that can I use gloss as per...

Decorators caulk not setting properly in bathroom

I've removed six downlights from my bathroom and then attached plasterboard discs in the holes using batten and screws. I then filled the gap around the discs with decorators caulk and left it to set. Problem is the caulk isn't setting well - it's cracking away from the edges of the holes...

Yup - what Thripster said. It's for powering this sort of thing without having to use an additional power supply.

Have I understood bathroom zones correctly?

Thanks for your feedback and links Spark123, The approved document P guidance document definitely says that the whole room is a special location. Just to make sure I looked through the 2 Statutory Instruments the guidance is based on, which are listed on page 5. These are SI2004/3210...

Have I understood bathroom zones correctly?

One more thing - I'm not trying to be awkward, but are you sure about this? I ask because the Part P section in the wiki states (talking about where Part P doesn't apply): and then defines special location (my emphasis): Which I would take to mean that anything outside zone 3 isn't...

Have I understood bathroom zones correctly?

Thanks for the reply! :) Does that mean I can't do anything in the bathroom without notifying LABC? I don't think so - it appears out of a wall and i couldn't find a cable above it in the loft. Shame, because then I could have taken the feed from there and I wouldn't have needed to mess...

Have I understood bathroom zones correctly?

Looking at the Part P regs and the bathroom zone diagram it looks to me that anything more than 60cm from the edge of a bath/sink that is above 225cm is not regarded as within a special location, and so work can be carried out without notification being required. Is that right or have I...

    planning freeview in all bedrooms

No worries :). You want CT100 or WF100 cable, preferably CAI approved.

    planning freeview in all bedrooms

You want a distribution amplifier like one of these. Not sure what you mean by that... but that's easy enough - loads of amps send FM and DTV down the same cable (this for example), you just need a diplexer on the end like this.

    Hiding Plasma TV cables...

Just to clarify - what I'm trying to say is that if you already have loads of SCART gear don't feel like you have to replace it all to take advantage of your shiny new TV. But if you are replacing then yes, look for HDMI where possible.

    Hiding Plasma TV cables...

Totally, lets not start a war, but I disagree with this. I don't think it's worth going into why because you (the OP) should go and view a variety of screens and then make your own mind up. But make sure when you do you watch what you'll be watching at home e.g. if 80% of your viewing is from SD...

Any problems with this loft light set up?

Edge to edge it's just under 10m x 9m. About half of it is boarded at the moment (by the previous owner), so I'm going to finish doing that and then use it for storage around the edges and as a sort of mini workshop in the middle - nothing major just for other bits of DIY, building PCs, that...

Any problems with this loft light set up?

Sorry, they should both have been 9w bulbs, I updated the 2nd link. 9w is equivalent to 40w incandescent and there are 8 of them so it should be fine. They are mounted quite low down so I went for many less bright lamps rather than a couple of blinding ones.

Any problems with this loft light set up?

JohnD - Thanks, those spiral type lamps look like the way to go. Maybe this or this, they both seem small and are good value. I'll just need to make sure and measure before I order this time! CallEdsFirst - If I'd realised that it was going to be a pain finding small enough bulbs I'd have...

Any problems with this loft light set up?

Thanks guys, RF Lighting - nice one, I'll have a look at those. Doesn't that site say they're 102mm rather than 70mm? Probably still small enough though, I'll have to get the tape measure out! ;) Taylortwocities - good suggestion, Screwfix have taken the bulbs back without any hassle. I'm...
