    Emulsion on Wallpaper

Vaseline intensive care lotion, dabbed on and left for a while should do the trick. It certainly works very well on carpets. I do not think brush cleaner works on emulsion paint

    New World inbuilt gas cooker

Sounds like a normal cooker just slotted into the space. Are the springs broken? or do they just want hooking on again. The springs can become unhooked, and it should be simple to refix them.

Cooker's drop-down door drops to floor

Probably the door springs have become detached, and just want hooking on again. You can find out,by just removing one of the side panels.

    APPLIANCE INSURANCE COVER

Extended warranties can seem to be a rip off, but it depends on one's personal circumstances. If you know a reliable local repair man, that is fine, but sometimes the people advertising in local papers are not cheap or reliable. I have a friend who has had quite a bit of trouble with a...

    Combi Boiler

ajayksagar You really ought to get your installer back again, these things should not happen if the supply pipes etc have been correctly sized, and the boiler is the correct size for the job.

    Advice on re-pointing

I had this problem and had it repointed by a builder a few years ago. In my opinion, it is not a job for a novice, if it is not done neatly, without putting mortar all over the brick faces, it could be a major problem to put it right, if it could be put right.

    Privet hedge, yes or no?

Glad that you have decided, something less to worry about. Hope you are pleased with the hedge when it gets established. I have grown several privet hedges, but never bought plants. I have always planted cuttings direct into the ground, very easy and simple to do, and Cheap. :D

    Privet hedge, yes or no?

morphe I would try and look at some of the hedges that have been suggested before you decide. Leylandii is definitely anti-social, although it does look nice for a few years, but the older the hedge, the bigger the problem becomes. My neighbour has the cherry laurel on part of his garden...

    Privet hedge, yes or no?

Privet is much maligned as a hedge, but in my opinion, it is one of the best. It can be grown to the height you require, fairly quickly, and it can be trimmed neatly into any shape you desire. It rarely loses all its leaves in the winter. The only real problem is that it needs trimming...

    Removing conifers?

I have found the best way is to put the spade in about 2' from the tree, and then hit the top of the blade with a sledge hammer. This should slice through the roots, continue this right round the tree. Then providing you have left a decent sized trunk, you should be able to wiggle it out.

    Top Dressing A Lawn

Depends what the compost is. Something to think about is that compost as a top dressing does attract worms, and worm casts can be a problem in wet weather. My inclination would be to use quite a heavy dressing of sharp sand, mixed with some granular fertiliser, but really it depends on the...
