    citreon picasso

Phill2,just as a follow up,the Picasso is not listed in "What car"with any less than 1.6 anyway. There is a 1.6 petrol and 1.6HDI and 2.0HDI.All excellent units, the 1.6HDI would be my choice with lowest co2 emissions and probably lower RFL. Air con not on all models,I wouldn't do without it these...

    citreon picasso

Blimey Phill2,you can't spell Peugeot, and now get Citroen wrong!!Have you thought of buying a Ford? Seriously though, johnwr is dead right, the Picasso is too heavy for anything less than 1600cc.All the peugeot-Citroen engines are very reliable and last well. The diesels are as good as the VW...

    Cam Belt

Hi Fattony,Yes you are right, the vauxhall belt change was recommended for 80k.With experience they revised it back to 40k,and cars going into vauxhall garages got a sticker in the service book stating this. Happened about 1999-2001 I seem to think. The belts were often ok but if they came off due...

    peagout 306 water change?

Phill, don't know if this is any help, but the 1400 diesel used in some small Peugeot cars, has a bung. The pipework is mainly pre-moulded plastic and not meant to come off.On the pipe joint below the injector pump the bung can be seen sticking out.just remove the "hairgrip"clip and pull it out.If...

Peugeot 1.9D Non Turbo Timing Belt

Neo,your right that drill bits are ok for locating, but the crank pulley has to be released,a drill won't stand the pressure from slacking/refitting the crank bolt. There are three different non-turbo XUD engines, from 1.7,then the 1.9's with and without catalysts. The tensioners vary a bit but most...

Peugeot 1.9D Non Turbo Timing Belt

Don't use a drill Keyplayer,it would probably shear off.Had a look at a Peugeot 1.9 at work,it appears to be the same as Citroen. The flywheel lock pin hole is in the cast lug just above the starter. If you can get a length of 8mm bar and put one 90 deg bend on it,you will be able to insert it...

    BAD STARTING LANDROVER

You can get new seals for the sedimentor from landrover dealers. These units do a good job and are better than an in-line.It's quite common for air to be drawn in but see no fuel leaks.

Peugeot 1.9D Non Turbo Timing Belt

Think you are ok with bolts on the cam and pump. The official tool for the flywheel is a pin with a handle about a foot long to clear the starter. You may have to remove the starter for access without it.The last one I did was a citroen, I assume they are the same?

Head gasket ... oil in water

If you are sure it's oil in the water, and not showing water in the oil. There is a possibility that the head gasket is not the cause. Some of the ZX range had a modine type oil cooler which fits to the cylinder block before the oil filter. The oil pressure is typically 3bar and coolant about...

Astra rear brakes, routine replacement = rubbing + squeek

kaytay, having read through your posts, you seem to have done a thorough job and already checked likely causes.I have had the odd brake drum out of round from brand new. This is your most likely cause of pedal oscillation. If you have a brake pipe clamp, you could fit it to the rear flexi hoses one...

    Cambelt Advice Please

Poonum,it's quite possible your garage detected some noise developing from the tensioner roller,or even the belt itself. So they are playing safe by recommending a belt change earlier than your handbook says. Experience often causes changes to original service life expectancies. Vauxhall,some...

    blacking out car windows

Keyplayer, you are dead right,I am new to this particular forum, and find the huge amount of tripe and wrong information that is posted quite annoying. Why do people have to post unhelpful stuff? If you don't know the answer to a query, keep out.I've noticed also, sarcasm is all some can offer.

    Greener 4x4

Denzoid,I approve of your choice of transport.I live in town but work in the country, and run a Jimny for much the same reasons as you.Previously, had a 410 which my son still runs and a 413 Samurai before that.Old suzuki's just get re-cycled as you say.The big 4x4 motors like range-rover,land...

    Zafira diesel fuel filter bleeding

thanks for the advice chaps,is does seem as if you could have problems if you don't pre prime the system before start-up. The engine is the same as the 2.0d vectra I think. It's Vauxhall designation is Y20DTH.Any further info appreciated.

What can i use WD40 for on the car?

Thanks for that info breezer, the stuff you find on the internet!! What I have believed to be right for 45 years or more is wrong.I do stand by the first part of my post though,WD40 is limited in it's life. These days I use a product called ACF-50 which is much more effective for longer.

    Zafira diesel fuel filter bleeding

One for any current vauxhall techn.I shortly have to change a fuel filter on a 2.0 diesel Zafira, the TIS states it has to be connected to a bleed pump, vauxhall part KM-948.Do you really have to use this or can you prime the new filter with diesel from a syringe?Don't want to end up with a won't...

    Nissan Serena Mirror

Not sure on a Serena, but a lot of mirror glasses are held on the adjuster frame by strong sticky pads.If it's flapping about you may be able to ease it right off and resecure with new pads.

What can i use WD40 for on the car?

Being so ancient I can remember WD 40 coming onto the market. It can do all the good things listed above, but only for a while.A squeaky hinge or bush will probably become noisy again after it has evaporated. So you need to apply it again. WD 40 is short for "water dispersant for 40 days".Not a lot...
