Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Yes, they have a thirty day return policy - excellent!

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Well, at the boss's insistence I "just got on with it" got a new thermostat! Turns out it is the probe that is knacked - bugger!

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Oh right, yeah, durr. Cheers again mate! (“furloughed advice”, like it, gonna use that)

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Yes, that’s what I thought and I wonder how “technical” their “technical staff” are anyway. Indeed. However, a floor probe would be mightily expensive to re-embed in the floor; especially as the boss would want all the tiles re-done. New floor? Gulp!

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Hi, me again, sorry to be a pain. I had asked Warmup about the situation earlier and they finally got back to me! They say that even though the probe's resistance measurement looks ok it is still at fault. They got me to change the target to air temp (I was wrong, mine does have "air...

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

True, true, I deserve that. As you say, “sometimes it’s useful to have an idiot around”! :) It’s just that I think of a “thermostat” as being both the controller and the sensor together. Replacing the box is a far better option than the probe. Cheers.

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Cheers mate, thank you. Just to be clear: it’s the “box on the wall” not the probe in the floor that has died, has “joined the choir invisible “?

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Sorry, I didn't look at the display properly! I just measured it again and it is 13.36kohms, that is kilo-Ohms. The floor temp was 18.6degC - roughly. I think the probe is an NTC10K. What a fool. P.S. Mine is a very old one with no "air" option - worse luck.

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

Hi, The probe is 13.5ohms and the element is 87.6ohms (a small bathroom). So the probe is knacked then?

Underfloor heating gone mad (Warmup 3iE)

I have electric underfloor heating in the bathroom (Warmup with 3iE thermostat) that has been working perfectly for over nine years. Today, the temp is reading 31.5C when the heating is off and the floor is cold to the touch. There are no errors showing, nothing has happened (no bumps, power...

    Quality hand pruning shears

I need them for the lower end of pruning: I have loppers. I did have some Felco but they were poor - I must have been lumbered with a "Friday afternoon" pair. Cheers all

    Quality hand pruning shears

I've been pruning the (non-stoned) fruit trees and my secateurs are useless. Most of the cuts are ragged even though I sharpened them before using. No matter how much I spend I can't see to get good ones. Any recommendations please?

    Meccano-style metal "bars"

Imagine a metal "bar" like the one that were (when I was a kid) in a Meccano set: about 1mm thick by 10mm wide by anything up to 100mm long with holes every 10mm or so. I want such a thing that I can bend to shape but is much more robust - say, 2mm or 3mm thick. What do I search for!? I have...

    Tripod terror

Brilliant, thanks all. The tripod with chains is just how I imagined it!

    Tripod terror

I am trying to renovate an old telescope that belonged to my father-in-law's father: hence the terror - I must get it right. I has a huge wooden-legged tripod (1.2m long, 40mm diameter legs) that had spikes on the end as it was meant to be used outside. I've cut the spikes off (it needs to go...

    Hole filling (not Polyfilla!)

I 've had an old electrical socket moved. There is now a hole where the old one used to be. The wall is granite (old barn conversion) and is rough rendered and painted. What could I use to fill the hole? It seems to big for Polyfilla and too small to buy a great bag of cement that I'll only use...
