Sorry more problems! Had a pre installed ideal standard dual flush valve in my cistern (its the type that overflows internally). I noticed that it had a constant flow of water once installed, so took it off and tightened the bottom back nut (thinking it was the external seal) Once on again...

Just fitted my Ideal Standard mixer tap/waste and was greeted with a rush of water down my neck! It appears that there are about four turns of thread on the bottom of the waste (~10mm), but the trap has about 6 turns (~14mm), so the pipe does not pull up and seal.... :roll: Now I assume...

Excellent replies guys, thanks for the help. I forgot to say that I bought one of those trims for the edge from tops tiles....but frankly it will look crap (I have about 10mm gap at the worst point due to the walls..) The tiler just said to me to plug up the gap and then just go over the top...
