    Mortise Lock for Drawer

Looks like a nice old lock... Just a thought - find a decent, proper locksmith and see if they can make a key for you - the mechanism won't be overly complex, a simple key should be easy enough for someone who knows what they are doing.

    Dating service adverts

Cookies are a necessary evil of the internet I'm afraid. Nothing to do with any kind of malware and or you being phished, cloned or anything else. Websites will drop cookies onto your machine pretty much whether you like it or not. You can set your browser to it's most draconian settings...

    Dating service adverts

RF L SNAP! I was thinking just that. Screwfix (and their owners B&Q) seem to have a particularly aggressive online advertising policy.

    Dating service adverts

Hmmmm... I think 'no comment' would probably be best in these circumstances. If you want to stop it happening - delete all the cookies from your machine - don't rely on your browser to do it, it will say it has, but it hasn't. Then try using 'pron mode' in the browser of your choice...

    Dating service adverts

Errrrrr... OK, how to put this delicately... The adverts that you see dropped into the page aren't generated randomly. It all springs form what are called tracker cookies which keep an eye on the sites that you visit so that they can feed 'appropriate' advertising back at you. Sorry...

How do I repair dents in wood

Similar to HarbourWoodWork... Damp flannel or towel, steam iron (not too hot, just hot enough to steam) apply iron on top of flannel and steam. I don't reckon it will make much difference though, damage looks too deep and I am not sure what wood (or wood-like substance) the wardrobe is...

    Core drilling dilemma

Been there, done that! Ok, so I didn't break it, just very badly sprained, took about two months before I could even think about using it properly, even now, 4 months later, I wear a wrist support for 'heavy' work. Guy at the hire shop told me to turn off the hammer action, but not to leave...

I am new to tiling ... need some advice please

Move your batten down so that it is half a tile above the bath, then any cuts you make will be good clean cuts and you won't be nibbling away at the edges trying to take 1/16ths off. Fill the bath with water before putting on the bottom row. Lots and lots and lots of really good...

    4.25 inch core cutter

Having done this recently - I go with the above - don't waste your money on a cheapy chinese paperweight - go to your local hire shop and get the proper gear for half a day - the money spent will easily be compensated by the time saved and the job being done properly.

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Thanks Simon, I knew a lot of that - there would be no point me changing from Orange now as no-one else can give me better speed/width this far from the exchange, hence the reason I am staying with Orange. But I am sooooooo fed up with Orange 'Customer Service' (yeah right!) I am going to...

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Oooooh - never used a HepVo before... Might have to have a look into one of those - I like new toys :)

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Thanks again Hugh, I am waiting for BT to upgrade our road to fibre optic some time this month, then I will tell Orange to go forth and multiply! The anti-vac trap sounds a great idea. I don't think there will be a problem because there wasn't before, and there is no long vertical drop...

Double post... Bl**dy Orange Internet! Don't ever, ever, ever, ever get internet from Orange!

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Thanks Hugh, That is good news - fortunately in this instance the drains are really shallow and the distance between the crown (if I understand what that is correctly) and the invert should be a lot less than 1.3 metres. I think I may get what height I can on the stub stack, without...

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Thanks Kev, That's what I thought - bit of a pain, it will really mess up the boxing in and sink cabinet from a tiling and aesthetic perspective. Maybe I ought to think about going through the wall to an external SVP after all. From a fluid dynamics perspective, the chances of a vacuum...

SVP Vs. AAV Vs. Nothing at all??

Ok, So I am refitting/refurb'ing a shower room and turning what was a traditional shower into a wet room. The shower drain is self-contained and has its own access to the external drains, so no problem there. The toilet and the sink used to both go into a shared waste pipe fitted inside...

    Project - Marble.

I very rarely have enough knowledge, experience or skill to offer advice on here - but in this case, I will add my threepenny worth... I fully agree with tpt - think again before using real marble - it will stain, it will fade/brown in sunlight, it is soft so will chip with ladies heels...
