The reason i ask is, the valve stem oil seals have gone on my '93 Audi 80 and i have just purchased a head which has been pressure tested, skimmed, had valves ground in and new stem seals fitted and i got hold of it real...

    Frontera problem

    Given that modern engines dont have a choke as such, they use the ECU to control throttle settings i would go along with the idle air control valve being the poss prob, or poss a vacume leak somewhere, or maybe the throttle position sensor needs adjusting? :wink: Might be worth asking Vauxhall...

    I'm a car valeter and you have my sympathy, i've tried all sorts with little or no effect, small amounts you can usually get rid of, in the long run it would be advantageous to replace the carpet with new or one from a breaker :wink:

    At the risk of being shot down in flames, i would say you have a sensor down of some sort to put the ECU into limp mode. You may have to go to a garage to get the codes read/diognostic check :wink:

    Maybe not related, but my daughters Lupo lost all electrics, it was taken by RAC to VW garage, main engine fuse had blown :wink:

    Or there may even be a an allen key fitting on the rear of the piston to wind it back in as on my car, not to sure about Corollas having never owned a Toyota.

    James, two things mate, do not use washing up liquid when washing a vehicle because it contains salt :shock: Second thing, yes i've come across grinding dust before, it can also attack glass!! G3 is not a heavy compound, i use it every day, lust make sure you wax/polish after otherwise...

    Any polish or wax will do, give it a good wash, dry, then apply the polish/wax, this should give some protection but i feel the damage has already been done and its only a matter of time before the other panel will go the same way :shock:

    Tar & glue remover will lift any polish/paint protector you have on ya vehicle, T-Cut will do the same, you should have applied wax/polish afterwards. Have you gone really heavy handed with the T-Cut and gone right through the paint?? 'cause if you have its no wonder rust is appearing! Anyway...

    First off i dont think "kilgore" will thank you for invading his thread you should have started your own :wink: Regarding the gloss paint, if its only been on a couple days you may get away with some paint thinners or white spirit applied on a soft cloth. If its an old car you may find this...
