Sounds like the solonoid on the gas valve. Your going to need a whole new gas valve i'm afraid

The cracked part is just the plastic cover, covering the adjustment screw on the gas valve. Absolutely nothing to worry about. I doubt very much you can buy this part on its own, you will probably need to buy the whole gas valve and it won't be cheap.

Get yourself a potterton heatmax. Good price, piece of pi$$ to install and pretty god damn reliable.

You have to buy the complete flue to get the seals. Ideal do not sell the seals as a spare part.

I agree with engineerman LE is also caused by overheat stat, replace that and should be ok. It sits above the thermistor on the left hand side.

Ideally what you should do is drain down, fix the first radiator then add some cleanser to the system and leave this in till you a ready to fix the other radiator, then fix that and add some inhibitor before you fill the sytem back up for the last time. Try fleabay look for fernox F5 & F1...

They do nothing unless you open or close the valves, just means you have no temperature control over them.
