    Horizontal? Flow-sensor sought....

I remember Danfoss doing a paddle type. Can`t remember the voltage. I think the smallest they did at the time we fitted them was 1" bsp. They screwed into a "T" in the flow line.

Radiator installation + gas fire price match !!!!

I`d have quoted it as 300 singles to all rooms and 8mm supply over a 22 metre run. And waited for the phone to ring.

If you`re not confident on the gas then don`t do it. That`s all the lads on here are trying to say. Bonus on the electrics front. But, as posted by others and seconded by myself, you`ll be pushed to find an rgi willing to certify it. Good luck.

Acceptable on the gas maybe, but what about the electrics? I have to get my electrician to leave a minor works certificate. Is that not the case for a diy install?

It takes at least half a day to just commision the boiler. This has to be done by the engineer to fill in the benchmark, and be sure the boiler is working to manufacturers specifications but, most importantly, safely! I`m sorry to say your estimate of 3 hours is way off the mark. There`s a...

    combi boiler in loft

These Atmos boilers, they send the condensate into the flue and discharge it that way? Sounds a good idea, one question though, surely the temperature of the flue gases is not sufficient to vaporise the condense, so there`d still be liquid from the flue. Is that the case or not? Intrigued...

    Combi flue.

3 weeks to come out to look at it, then 2 weeks to send the letter, then a further 2 weeks that the installer has to move the flue. Don`t hold your breath......At least your kitchen window won`t frost up! :D

The engineer i worked with did have a mental breakdown half way through a £10m project we were working on. He was found under a vessel crying like a baby! Glad i`m dumb!

You can be jesus. His right hand man. Other than the gas debate, he`s a very clued up bloke. Reminds me of a design engineer i worked with on a chemical site. Superb problem solver, one difference between the 2 though. No prizes for guessing what that was.

    Combi flue.

Manufacturers state that a fanned flue should be at least 2.5m away from an opening (door or window) in a building directly opposite. BS 5440-1. Tell them that one! Their installer should have known that.

    soldered chrome gas pipe

A mate of mine had an inspection a few weeks ago. Having fitted a combi to the house, gas tested and passed no problem. The inspector picked up on some other gas pipework that, to him, looked slightly corroded. The inspector told my mate it was up to hhim to notify the homeowner and replace the...

    Glow-Worm Fuelsaver boiler problem

Check the voltage to the gas valve when demand is on. Two orange wires at the front. 24v on the fuelsaver, if i remember correctly. Don`t rule out external controls if you have them.

HOW TO EMPTY HOUSE COMPLETELY OF WATER ?

If you`ve access under the ground floor boards, just cut a heating pipe and let it drain. Start upstairs after 10 mins or so opening the bleed screws on the radiators to allow air into the system. Then do the same downstairs. Make sure the f/e tank is isolated too. If it doesn`t have it`s own...

replacement fan for older halstead boiler

You need to check that the boiler is sending voltage to the fan. If you`ve no reading at the fan you need to find out why. The fan won`t turn without the buzzy stuff.
