Hi got a problem with my boiler, moved in about 8months ago and the boiler is not firing up properly. The boiler is about maybe 20 years old, however there is no booklet! The pilot light will come on after several attempts, however when it is lit it will not ignite and fire up the rest of the boiler to full heat. Hoping for a easy solution and that its not the gas valve. Anybody any ideas?

what color is the knob on the gas valve that you pressed for the pilot? and is it set to the pic of the flame (is its the one I am thinking of that is ;) )

yeah its a cream coloured head to the valve and has a pic of a flame on one side, which you point to the right hand side???

Check the voltage to the gas valve when demand is on. Two orange wires at the front. 24v on the fuelsaver, if i remember correctly. Don`t rule out external controls if you have them.

Is the pilot light sufficient to allow flame rectification?

David

What do you mean David? the pilot is on but its not lighting the rest of the 'row' under the tank, if you know what i mean?
