    Wallpapering inner corners

Ha ha - I know, your eyes are always drawn to the mistakes no-one else ever notices. Cheers.

    Wallpapering inner corners

Thank you for your response, footprints. Unfortunately it's not paintable paper, so the potential for margin of error is less but I've decided I'm going to get it anyway and just hope for the best - all the reviews say that it's an easy paper to work with despite its thickness so I'm hoping...

    Wallpapering inner corners

Hello I am about to wallpaper my living room (I’ve already wallpapered two bedrooms, a landing and down the stairs to a not flawless but not too bad either standard). The thing that I always find the most stressful though is wallpapering the inner corners. I know that the correct way to do it...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Ha ha - washing machine up and running again (even though I'm out there every 10 minutes to check). Thanks once again for all your help, it's really appreciated. If I could send you some of the chocolate caramel shortbread I made last night I would :-)

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Ah, the wonder of rubber gloves - donned a pair and was able to get better purchase of the thing and wriggled it out. Plugged it into the new part the only way it'll fit and screwed it back into place so I'm hoping nothing goes bang, like you say. Have now left my OH on the kitchen floor...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Thanks so much for that, that's very helpful. Fortunately the OH had a good look last night and spotted the plate that had dropped at the bottom, so we've just been able to re-attach the door. We've now got another problem though in that we can't unplug the wiring part of the door interlock -...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

But I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I'm giving up for the night now anyway as I'm getting frustrated and cross and I've got to make Chocolate Caramel Shortbread for work tomorrow.

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Just removed the seal and with a head torch took a look inside the bottom of the machine. There's nothing at all that looks like it is the other side of the door hinge (from what I can see anyway).

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Do you think that that is the problem - the metal plate dropped off at the other side? Any ideas what it might feel like?

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

I think I'm going to scream! The two parts came today so this evening I set about changing the door latch part which had sheared off the original. Took the door off the machine as instructed, removed the inner and outer parts of the frame, replaced the part, re-attached the two parts of the...

    Inserting SDS drill bits?

Thank you for your reassurances. I used the drill this afternoon and it was fine. I wished I'd been aware of them ages ago, as drilling is my absolute least favourite DIY task. The bricks in my house seem to be made out of steel as far as normal drills are concerned, making simple jobs a...

    Inserting SDS drill bits?

I have just bought a Titan SDS drill and am following the instructions as to how to insert the drill bit. It says insert with a twisting motion until it latches, but I'm doing that but it's not getting very far in at all (you can still see part of the bit's grooves and it can be pulled out...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Thank you rocks1. Like I say I've ordered the two parts and they'll be arriving in a few days. Hopefully replacing the door handle part will fix the problem, but as jj4091 suggested that maybe the part that broke off has actually jammed into the interlock, making the machine think the door is...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Thank you for your response. Well I don't know what an actuator is, but I've had a closer look at the machine and it seems like a little bit of white plastic from the door handle has sheared off as it feels a little rough to touch (but I've never paid much attention to what that little bit...

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

And does anyone know how I would get to the door interlock part to remove it? Videos show removing the rubber seal near that part, but there's no retaining clip anywhere above the door seal like I've seen in videos so the seal seems pretty solidly stuck.

Hotpoint WMA58P Washing Machine Door Won't Lock

Hello I put some washing in the washing machine this evening to wash (though I didn't over fill it). Went into the other room to do some ironing and after a while heard a loud banging noise so I returned to the kitchen to investigate. I discovered the washing spinning away (loudly) but the...

    Wallpapering to a flat edge

Thank you footprints and Shug711. Do you leave the paper to dry so you're least likely to get snagging when cutting the paper? I'll give it a go but the thought of waiting until the paper is dry before cutting (when it's too late to pull it off and try again if you mess up) is a bit scary...

    Wallpapering to a flat edge

This is the arch I was talking about. The one wall on my landing is the same depth, but not as wide ... and flat, not curved, but the same principle - wallpapering to a flat edge rather than a ceiling or skirting. I'm guessing if I don't get my cutting spot on it's going to look awful, and...

    Wallpapering to a flat edge

I'm at work all day, but I'll try and upload a photograph tonight. The areas in question aren't very big though ... the staircase is about 75cm(?) wide so the wall above that I'm wallpapering would only need to be cut across about 75cm, and the arch above the front door is similarly only about...
