Another alternative would be to buy a SATA PCI card, for around a fiver on eBay. This would at least allow connection of future SATA devices, assuming that you dont have any SATA ports on your MB already.

Your not trying to switch the neutral conductor, just the line.

I wouldn't use one. A member of this forum suffered a fatal injury when using an angle grinder to cut wood. They just spin too fast, buy or hire the correct tools for the job.

Not all do, The lower end Mira Vie have plastic inlets.

So will the PC still run ok for a short period of time when you give it some additional cooling? Why not remove the heatsink, give it a good clean up, apply some thermal paste and properly reseat?
