    Lottery idiots

I know, first thing I'd do is sort myself out a house for life, then probably invest in my own business. Rumour is that the guy I'm talking about above is now trying to get his hands on the measly 50k trust fund he'd put in place for each of his two sons.

    Lottery idiots

We've all heard about Michael Carroll but I never thought i'd meet a real life one. Was speaking to a maintenance electrican in a factory the other day, he'd won over 1.4 million on the lottery two years ago and blown in all in 6 months on hookers and gambling. He still lives in a council...

Simple job - why so expensive?

Where did I say not to test them? The reason I was asking about metal faced accessories was because if the OP was intending to DIY job, and the replacement sockets are plastic, i'd suggest that a L --> E test with a multimeter or AVI would give an indication of earth connection. If metal...

Simple job - why so expensive?

Because, although there are clearly CPC's present, i'd like to know whether they are actually connected to something, especially if I were doing it for someone else, paid or not. Perhaps im overcautious, but thats just me.

Simple job - why so expensive?

Are the new accessories that you are wanting to fit metal fronted? P.S. Treat those backboxes to a bit of a vac out

Simple job - why so expensive?

I don't know what you're getting at. Surely, even though its a simple swap, he'd at least want to check that the loop impedance is sufficiently low, after having a quick look at the earthing arrangements and the condition of the bonding.

As a matter of interest, do you carry calibrated test equipment with you?

    Halfords Branded Tools- Any good?

We have a halfords socket set and combi spanner set at work. It takes a fair bit of abuse and seems good quality for them money.

Is there a downlight that can be covered with insulation ?

[/url] Bless him, there is a lot of confusion over fire rated downlights unfortunately. By the way, if he removed all of the insulation from around the downlights, wouldn't he be in breach of another part of the building regs?

    Rigid PVC to PMA

Oh yeah, of course you can!! My mind is working overtime thinking about the rest of the misery involved with gutting the bathroom out so even the simple things seem to be causing me problems. Cheers guys. By the way coljack, PMA is just a brand name of flexible conduit. Its...

    Rigid PVC to PMA

Hi, Can you get adapters to convert from rigid PVC to PMA style flexible conduits, or am I best terminating into an adaptable box? I've tried googling, but have perhaps not chosen the best search terms. Cheers.

How many outlets does the ring main supplying the sockets have? If its a fairly small installation it shouldn't take that long to find the section of the ring that's causing the problem. What type of cable has been used for the ring final?

Does sport still need a slot on the news?

I'll admit I'm biased when it comes to this because I have very little interest in most spectator sports. But, why does sport still require a slot on the news? There are plenty of news channels dedicated to the subject so it seems superfluous. The last few times i've had the news on i've...
