    Find my leak

I don't have a copper outlet from the boiler but do have a grey, plastic, flexi type pipe feeding into a white plastic pipe going directly to my sink waste pipe. I've taken that off and some water came out.

    Find my leak

Forgot to mention, all rads are full of air generally and I bleed them very often - assume that's a given if the pressure is dropping though.

    Find my leak

To Whitespirit66 - what's the PRV? And where will I find the copper pipe? I assume you mean from the boiler. To gas_man_gaz - there's a small black thing underneath my orange football thing (looks like the valve cap on my tyres). Is that what you mean? That's dry.

    Find my leak

I have a leak but can't find where it is and run out of ideas where to look and how to check. I have a pressurised system with an orange, football sized pressure vessel and a dial on it - the dial drops gradually over a few days. I've left the heating off this week and the pressure has...

    Cracking caulk as I paint

I've had the "cracked" caulk appearance recently and noticed it in the caulk itself then replicated in the paint. I've tried Soudal, Polyfilla and Unibond with the same result each time - I've tried applying a small bead and a large bead, wetting lots, hardly wetting at all etc etc but it's...

    Electrical fault or washing machine

Thanks. I checked the carbon brushes last night and they are worn but still have lots of life in them - the casings fell apart and there was a lot of powder on them so perhaps they're to blame anyway. Think it's the engineer route then.

    Electrical fault or washing machine

My knowledge is a bit untechnical so I'll try in layman's terms. All sockets are on one circuit then the ground floor lights on another and first floor lights on another - when the spin kicks in, everything except the ground floor lights trip and just one switch on the CU flicks. Pretty...

    Electrical fault or washing machine

Power to our sockets and all lights, except ground floor, keeps cutting out when our washing machine hits spin mode. This is the only time it happens. I'd assume its the washing machine but it never happened until our electrician did some work in one room (additional sockets). Is it a...

    New shower room

Well, I was trying to save complexity by skipping the part that one of the existing walls isn't really a wall yet because I need to brick-up a doorway and window. They'll need to be bonded then skimmed and tanked, I guess. The one existing wall is in decent condition although it has a...

    New shower room

Instead of plasterboard for the new stud wall? How about the existing walls?

    New shower room

I’m planning the installation of a shower room and am after some advice on the best wall structure – the main factor is overall quality and to avoid future problems related to moisture. space is a bit limited but I can work around it if it improves the structure significantly. The plan is to...

No hot water coming from taps

Thanks for the replies - I used the mixer tap in the bathroom and that seems to have fixed it, unless it dies again. Thanks for your help, I appreciate that.

No hot water coming from taps

No, single hot and cold everywhere except bathroom which is the top floor.

No hot water coming from taps

No mixer in the kitchen, only the bathroom sink/bath with mixers. The house is on three levels so assume I need to start with the kitchen sink and some hose.
