    TV schedules in printable form...

Hello everyone, My aged Mother who had an operation for Macular Degeneration a few years ago has trouble reading normal printed matter. I was thinking to print her out a radio and TV schedule rather than buy a newspaper just for the TV guide which we hardly read. Googling "BBC radio schedule...

Does anyone know what this mysterious device is?

I know what it is!! My sister once lived in a cottage close to the motorway. One of the small un-openable windows had a log jammed between the walls half way down. No-one knew why it was there, so it became a conversation piece. I think your neighbour, realising that you're worried that they...

    Jewellers Screwdriver Set recommendations please!

Yes! Got them yesterday (despite forgetting what I'd gone in for and only remembering after I was back in the car park!) They look and feel really good. Only gripe is that the box could have been smaller as a) there's a lot of wasted space (and plastic!) and b) it would take up excessive room...

"UV Light Cure Glue" - is it useful or just a gimmick?

Hello, I've seen these pen-tubes with a little blue LED which claim to be better than superglue and judging by the photos can stick/repair everything (obviously to be taken with a pinch of salt!). http://ebay.eu/2mBkuzW - UV glue pen The other day I met someone from our local "man shed" who...

    Jewellers Screwdriver Set recommendations please!

Am I allowed to say "both"? :-) I'll only use them occasionally, so don't want to spend too much. i.e. £10 (+p&p) would be high enough I think.

Call me a Luddite if you will...

Hello everyone, I'm trying to get "into" home automation, but at the moment the budget doesn't allow. The other day I saw something which made me smile, wanted to share it. Text of the advert: Use the SmartThings App or Amazon Alexa to control your smart home. Teach your house new tricks by...

    Merry Christmas & Seasons Greetings!

Thanks! I thought "Seasons Greetings" was the alternative to saying "Merry Christmas" to those who (might not) celebrate Christmas. Yes, it is a wonderful community. I think DoO adds to the community rather than detracting. Anyway, that's enough from me! SG & HNY to all!

    Funny conversation with WORX "salesman"...

Gawd!! They could have edited out the "WOOD" label on the blade if they're going to shame it! Someone tell me what "cutting bi-metal" means? I thought that was a technique for making strong blades with cheaper material at the "non-working" end? Like razors which use a little sliver of sharp...

    Bathroom dehumidifier

Not yet, haven't had the time! Need some more Round Tuits. A further question about ventilation: What is the point of ventilating when the weather outside is rainy, and the air is probably wetter (certainly cooler!) than that indoors? I think ventilation would be OK for summer (good ol' British...

    Bathroom dehumidifier

Can they be wall-mounted? Or sit on the kitchen surface - if they look good of course! Yes, there is (both), but don't feel like drilling at the moment! Thanks JBR & JohnD!

    Bathroom dehumidifier

That sounds good - we can plumb it into the same outlet as the washing machine and it can sit quietly in the dampest (most damp?) corner! One in the bathroom could feed into the cistern to recycle/save water!

    Bathroom dehumidifier

And it'll be difficult to keep Mum from switching it off before she goes to bed - everything is double/triple checked before heads down!! I suppose I could hard-wire it "on" - if it's quiet she won't notice! Not to mention trying to replace their 50-year old, 4-speed Vent-Axia "it works...

    Bathroom dehumidifier

OK it's an old thread, but... Mum & Dad are in their late 80s. Victorian house, they seldom open the windows a) to keep the bills down and b) not to sit in a draght. My question is how can we ventilate AND keep the house warm? I was thinking to get a dehum. or maybe even one for up one for...

    Help identifying Oil Pump...

Dear friends, I've found an old (unused) oil pump in our shed. I thought it might be for a Land Rover as we've owned those previously but I couldn't find the same one on the internet. Is anyone able to identify it? Second question, would anyone like to buy it? I'm thinking to eBay it once I...

Under-door brush seal - where can I buy?

Thanks endecotp, just what I was looking for! Also, they say "The bristle inserts are available separately for grooving into swing doors;" JWTDO (y) (Just discovered them on Screwfix as well: http://www.screwfix.com/p/stormguard-heavy-duty-brush-seal-aluminium-0-91m/14354)

Under-door brush seal - where can I buy?

Thanks but can't find anything on there, nor in the catalogue. Am I barking up the wrong tree I wonder? o_O Only this: "PVC brush gasket for HS gasket track L = 50m black" don't need 50 meters...
