Low wattage same as low voltage lights for building control?

Hi- told I need low voltage (down)lights by building control. I want to get LED's, but MR16's with cost of transformers (20 of them), its very expensive. GU10 LED's don't need a driver, so cheaper, and also only 3W each, so does anyone know if low Wattage would be as acceptable as low voltage...

How to I wire behind Kingspan K17 insulated plasterboard?

You mean we've managed to work what the Hell some of the actual regulations are ?! At the risk of spoiling it all (!) should the conduit be under the rules of 50mm deep/ earthed metal or plastic? And sorry... but.... As cable mustn't have insulation on, can the K17 insulating layer be tight...

How closely should I insulate around cables?

Hi- I need to insulate a garage conversion ceiling void with 100mm rockwool as there's a room above. There's loads of cables running in the voids between joists at different levels etc., so what are the rules for insulating around these? I know they must be avoided to prevent overheating...

How to I wire behind Kingspan K17 insulated plasterboard?

Hi- Converting an integrated garage into kitchen, and Mr. Building Control man says I need dot and dab K17 onto existing walls to insulate correctly. I want to do any laborious channelling to wall sockets (two cables to each socket, dropping from ceiling, in new ring) before I get the...

What is this insulation board called?

Fair point- not making myself clear as ever. Basically I know Celotex/ Kingspan are the makers of the stuff I want- PIR with foil each side at 100mm, but when I go to order, I don't actually know what its called. Is it 'Tuff R-Zero', 'TP10', 'TW55', 'TF70', or a dozen other names I've seen...

Can I put pipes through a stud wall with fireboard on?

Methinks you haven't gone down this path before. Your thoughts are similar to mine a while back. The door you have to fit is a fire door.

Can I put pipes through a stud wall with fireboard on?

Thanks for this reply, very useful, but can you please tell me what a 15mm fire collar looks like/ where I buy it? Is it a 'Screwfix' type thing? Thanks. Thanks to answer two as well, but fire regs. (building control) state this requirement.

How do you join the top/bottom of plasterboard on a ceiling?

Hi- just about to plasterboard a ceiling. Can anyone help with these please? 1/. The side joints are thinner to take tape and filler, but how do I join the top/ bottom flat edges so cracks don't appear? 2/. Can I use 9.5 in a kitchen, or is 12.5 plasterboard a regulation? 3/. Going off the...
