    Upvc door handle

Need to replace handle on front door. Total novice at this! I understand that I need to get the right size by measuring the various distances etc - but how do I know whether I need a handle that is sprung without first removing the existing handle?

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Am I right to sense sarcasm there or are you being deadly serious?

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Still not done anything about this but interestingly, today the keypad started sounding an alarm. Outside box wasn't, main unit wasnt, just the keypad. Wouldnt respond to any key presses, had to wait a few minutes until it went off by itself. Zone 1 is lit and cannot be cleared. Have sinced...

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

    Zones 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 flash steadily (6, 7 and 8 aren't used). Zone 2 flashes quickly. Zone 3 does nothing. Tamper light on.

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Same as before - tamper light comes on, and zones 1 and 2 flash during the omit process.

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Walk Test done. Appear to be no problems - all zones beeped as they should. No sequences of 9 nor 10 - no tamper light on.

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

I need to do this walk test. Why is the difference between latching and non-latching?

Well that doesn't happen for me - not any more.

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

No. Will have to try later as baby son asleep. So what is the single beep that normally follows the double beep?

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Neither. After entering the code and selecting full with zone 3 omitted, tamper light will come on, all zones bar 3 light up apart from 1 and 2 which flash at different rates. No bleeping. Zone 1 is where I'm standing so understandable but no reason for zone 2. After pressing "prog" I then get...

I wasn't - at least you've given me a suggestion, unlike some others.....

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

I didn't come on here to ask for comments on my choice of electrician, I came on here to get a solution to my problem. Anyone care to add something constructive? Help me get the alarm working first, then I'll consider my choice of tradesman. Thanks

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

I don't think that my electrician is a muppet at all - in fact I consider that comment is wholly unfair given the quality work he has done for me on numerous occasions over the past ten years or so - I just think that this time he has just got it plain wrong. No harm in asking Texecom for...

    Veritas Burglar Alarm

Hi. I have had a Veritas Burglar Alarm for four years. Never had a problem until the other day when it refused to arm (one zone is always "in fault" and cannot be cleared). The electrician that installed it has had a look and thinks its the main processor in the panel which has gone. He is...

Fridge freezer and central heating pipes

While measuring our appliance cabinet with a view to replacing an integrated fridge freezer, I noticed that there appear to be a couple of speedfit central heating pipes running down the back of the cabinet (which serve our kitchen radiator). Surely this cannot be good for the fridge freezer...

    Telescopic Hedge Cutters

Thanks, but I was looking for something "manual", i.e. not petrol/electric powered.

    Telescopic Hedge Cutters

Hi there. I have a Leylandii hedge about 60 ft long, 18 ft high and about 4 ft deep. I have an electric hedge trimmer (Bosch) which handles the front and the near side of the top edge perfectly. However, due to the depth of the hedge I can't get to the back of the hedge on the top edge...

Capping off redundant hot water feed

Just bought a new washing machine which is a cold water fill only, so now have a redundant hot water feed. The w/machine tap is still attached to the pipe (switched to "off" of course), but to be on the safe side I wanted to cap this off aswell. How can I do this without removing the tap...
