Adjusted 3 times new backdoor still letting in a draft

I had a new UPVC back door fitted last week but the middle section of the door on the handle side is letting in cold air. The company that fitted the door has been out a further 2 times but the door still lets in cold air. The problem seems to be that when the handle is pulled up the middle...

Pressue drop in boiler since en-suite upgrade. Advice pls

Last July we had the en-suite room upgraded. Work included laying down a new hardboard floor which was to stop the floor flexing as we were having a stone floor laid. The en-suite radiator was replaced and fitted on the adjoining wall. In November I noticed the boiler pressure was at zero...

    Pressure loss on combi boiler

Hair passing through shower waste and blocking pipe. Fix???

Your spot on about the fall. The house was new when I moved in, in 1990 and the shower has always had a problem. The shower room has just been refurbished by a bathroom company and I mentioned this problem to them before they started work. I guess from their point of view connecting up to...

Hair passing through shower waste and blocking pipe. Fix???

We have a Kudos Original Concept 2 760mm shower tray with a highflow shower waste, which was installed in August. I have enclosed a photo of the waste as we have a continuing problem with hair that is passing through the waste and getting trapped in the pipework beyond. If someone is...

3 years of air in sealed system and now a leak

The boiler leak was the condensate leaking where the pipe joined the boiler. OK so I am back to square one with it looking like I have a pipe / rad leak. I will isolate the boiler by shutting down the isolation valves on the boiler and will check the pressure after a couple of days...

3 years of air in sealed system and now a leak

Thanks Paul for the reply. First I have heard about Hydrogen so no I have not tested for it but will in the future. The Rad water is clear and the magnaclean picks up almost no sludge each year. When you say the flow and return isolators are you talking about the valves either side of the...

3 years of air in sealed system and now a leak

History: In April 2008 I had a Worcester 42CD combi boiler fitted. Up until that date I never had to bleed the radiators. Despite double dosing the system with Furnox and placing a nail against the magnaclean magnet to confirm that no corrosion was present I have had to bleed 3 radiators...

Dulux Trade High Gloss -bad batch?

In August I bought a 2.5L can of Dulux Trade High Gloss from B&Q. It didn’t look right in the can but I made the big mistake of applying it anyway to several internal doors and windowsills. I am now having to repaint all the doors and sills as they are yellowing badly. I have enclosed a...

Bad pratice? grooving a joist to pass a cable through.

Found this about notching http://www.eastdevon.gov.uk/bc-guidancenote7-notchingofjoists.pdf and seco services is correct .Seems I am not allowed to do it as a bottom notch weakens the joist.

Bad pratice? grooving a joist to pass a cable through.

I’m thinking of getting an electrician in to fit some down lighting in the kitchen. The problem is crossing the joists with cable without wrecking the ceiling as there is no access from the floor above. If I took out small sections of plasterboard using an 80mm hole cutter from underneath...

How to deal with an accessible 13A socket on a built in oven

I will be fitting a Neff built in oven into a tower unit that reaches the ceiling. The Oven requires a 13A plug but the manual states that the plug should be accessible. This rules out using the existing socket that sits on the wall within the tower but I am not sure I like the idea of...
