What has caused this after glazing replaced?

In July 2022 I had some popped double glazing changed. 15 months later the rubber seals on two of the 5 windows are starting to bulge. I keep pushing them back with a fingernail but it soon bulges again. How do I get them to stay in places and was it a faulty repair for the reason for the...

    Heat efficient rads

The higher the temperature the less efficient the boiler becomes. Do all the radiators heat evenly? Have the radiators been balanced properly?

    Air in system.

I have had this problem for years. No visible leaks just air and no gas as I can’t light it. No smells and no damp either. I have just renewed the boiler and the problem persist.

Best way to spend money to heat the home.

At 35 years old it is very unlikely that the walls are cavity filled. The loft insulation could do with doubling as well. Seal all holes around outside pipework entering house. At least then the home will retain heat longer.

Breach of planning law regarding outbuilding against my fence. Council happy to ignore. (photo enclosed)

So after being told here I was wasting my time is that still the case? I am not losing sleep over this but i don’t see why a lazy council can just do nothing and fob me off.

Breach of planning law regarding outbuilding against my fence. Council happy to ignore. (photo enclosed)

The ground was at the same height on either side of my fence when the fence was put up, as the gravel board of the fence sits on the this ground. It still does but there is now a high slab that this outbuilding now sits on. The slab peaks at maximum height on the corner shown, as there is a...

Breach of planning law regarding outbuilding against my fence. Council happy to ignore. (photo enclosed)

So permitted development allows a 3m rear facing building when planning law states 2.5m, as long as the 2.5m bit faces the home owner? Seems pointless having planning law when those affected can do nothing. The council admit they didn’t look at the rear boundary despite the original photos...

Breach of planning law regarding outbuilding against my fence. Council happy to ignore. (photo enclosed)

In June of 2022 I contacted my council about an outbuilding under construction that was only 26cm from my fence and approaching 3m high so requiring planning permission. The council did nothing despite photos being sent. I have now had a reply to my stage one complaint, which I want to appeal...

Why is the Hive so popular?

Looking at all the questions here the Hive seems to be a product of choice except it can’t modulate any boiler. Please correct me if I am wrong but its principle function is to switch the boiler on and off at defined times with preset temperatures that can be controlled via a smart phone but it...

    Boiler Modulating Query

If you have a hot water tank why don’t you just set the temperature to 60C?

Central heating reluctant to switch on and switches off soon after.

Your tenants are paying a high gas price for having to use an inefficient boiler.

Radiators are hot yet the property takes an age to heat up?

I would imagine once the heating goes off the temperature plummets. Maybe that is the reason unless you go to bed at 8:30. Do you even have cavities if the core of the building is an old farm house?

    Boiler gas consumption

Why don’t you just get a smart meter? For me it has been a revaluation, as I was surprised how little gas our family of 4 used just heating hot water. Hot water set at 42C to avoid heating water only to add cold. Typical summer figure

Central heating - Air not gases replaces water but the pressure doesn’t drop

I did hold a flame to the radiator while bleeding and nothing happened apart from the flame going out after a few seconds. I also witnessed 2 bottles of inhibitor going in on a 12 rad system. On my old system it was well dosed as I used to do it myself.

Central heating - Air not gases replaces water but the pressure doesn’t drop

I have changed the title to dismiss gas causing the problem. I can understand that if there is a weep on a sealed system then the boiler gauge pressure will eventually show a drop. On my combi the pressure gauge doesn’t move and stays constant until I bleed a towel rail. Then the pressure gauge...

    No Magnaclean

My sister-in-law did. A British Gas manager came out, couldn’t find the magnaclean either and so arranged for it to be fitted. BG ended up paying compensation. Think it was around £500. Basically it was fraud in our eyes, as an item was listed and paid for but not supplied as promised. I...

    No Magnaclean

My 91 year mother-in-law had a new British Gas sold boiler installed in August. The work was carried out by one of their contractors who kept the Magnaclean that was meant to have been part of the installation. Shocking job that was a Combi conversation that was completed in a day. A look in...
