thanks john. would you only use keypads? I think they are my preference but iv read people praising fobs and single button devices for their ease.

Thanks to all the alarm guys who have posted so far. It's all been pretty helpful and I am now looking at texecom devices, when I settle on some kit I will ask again for opinions if that's okay? Mine will definitely be a diy install because I like to do my own jobs where possible...

    Wire ferrules

yeah i see that would be easier. i already have the wire without the loops on the end so thought id save some money but i guess the ferrules could cost as much anyway... really not a fan of nets but locals have mastered the passing by window with head at 90 degrees style of walking so il give...

    alarm call for all

Hi all I'm trying to decide on what wired house alarm to buy with 5-6 PIRs and also covering two doors. Do people find windows benefit from being included? What are the options for including outhouses if wires could be rigged up effectively? I'm a bit worried about being out at work and the...

    Garden Shelving

Well wood wants to rot once chopped up, but i was just going to use an anti-sunlight water proofing treatment, i think cuprinol do a 5 star treatment that does all this in one. do you think it would be better to use some kind of acrylic latex paint? A spot of colour might be nice on this...

    Garden Shelving

just seems a bit naff the nailgunned way. but maybe im wrong. hmmm maybe i will use the image as more of a guide than inspiration... perhaps the same wood but use countersunk screws instead of nails and the addition of those nylon blocks. it will have to be pretty resilient. thanks

    Garden Shelving

Hello all I'd like to make my own version of the attached image - a plant stand. Can anyone offer any good advice before I start? I have some good wood and I was going to use butt joints and typical wood screws. A friend of mine says I need to use something like metal joist hangers to stop...

Type of hedge over fence - thin but tall

the pavement and then the road. so hedge > pavement > road, which seems to be covered by highway by the council. at least in terms of putting things up to it. also, pyracantha is on the police approved list of burglar preventing plants. such a thing exists.
