    Leaking external 40mm waste pipe

It's hard to replace as literally only 30-40cm of it is visible from it coming out of the wall into the soil stack and there's 2 elbows. Also it's not accessible from inside as it's behind the bath.

    Leaking external 40mm waste pipe

The external waste pipe from our bathroom sink is leaking. Pipe is 40mm solvent(unpainted), been there a good few years... Just looks like it has cracked a little bit on one of the elbows... So, Silicone? Acrylic? solvent cement? or LS-X?

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

ok, keep your knickers on. Just asking a question!

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

Which is 32mm right? If I take a standard 32mm waste compression coupler and put it against the thread on my basin waste(plug). The plug thread is smaller, meaning I can't attach the nut from a compression coupler onto my waste.

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

And these will extend the thread downwards? I notice that the thread on a waste is smaller than that on a 32mm coupling.

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

I can't, it's just too big of job as there's more involved than just a straight wall. I'm annoyed cause I'll probably end up using a couple of elbows where it meets the wall = bodge. I learnt a lesson though. I was too concerned with getting the waste pipe too high and ignored that fact...

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

No because the telescopic parts always have flanged ends. The outlet pipes are just straight pipes.

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

It depends on the bottle trap. Some are more like 40mm and slot over a 32mm pipe. Others will push straight into the 32mm elbow I have in the wall secured to a timber backplate. I've tested it before concealing and it works. Connection into the wall isn't a problem, it's finding a trap with a...

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

32mm push fit, most of the chrome traps are usually. I have 32mm push fit in the wall.

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

Yes... The outlet pipe must go straight into the wall and have a cover plate. Having elbows there will look crap. My thinking at the moment is to buy an el cheapo white telescopic trap. Remove the telescopic bit and attach to waste. Then put a 32mm compression coupler on it at the desired...

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

No as it's in the wall and on 'show' so it needs a chrome bottle traps that goes straight into the wall. I made a slight error when designing the bathroom in that I didn't measure exactly what height tolerance I had to play with between the basin waste out the waste outlet. I'm a couple...

    Basin waste thread needs lowering?

The height between the thread on my basin waste and the waste pipe outlet in the wall is approx 220mm, which seems a bit too high for most of the chrome height adjustable waste traps on the market. So what components do I need that will give me a 32mm thread a couple inches lower than my...

I'm assuming that half the pin has broken off, the other half is inside.

    Broken radiator drain valve?

The bit that's come out has no thread on it whatsoever, just a small rubber washer. It doesn't look like it's broken Hate radiators with a passion! Regarding the position of the drain valve. I'm putting on a downstairs rad, I can't really get under the floor without a lot of hassle. Thus...

    Broken radiator drain valve?

I noticed a little drip under my radiator drain valve. I tightened it up and it just kept on turning as if it weren't in the the thread http://www.screwfix.com/prods/11074/Plumbing/Radiator-Valves/Radiator-Valve-With-Drain-Off-15mm-x-1-2 In fact I can pull the square pin completely out of...

    Putting ply down for lino

I was thinking more as it was being fitted. If there's a channel round the sides the fitter is going to struggle no?

    Putting ply down for lino

Gotta put some ply down ready for lino. Skirting is already in place and chances are it'll be very difficult to scribe the ply perfectly so if there is any gaps round the edges, what the best thing to fill it with? sand and cement?
