Moving an outside light higher in wall

I’m trying to avoid having surface fittings otherwise they will just be illuminated by the light which defeats the purpose of brick surface up/down lights.

Moving an outside light higher in wall

Hi all, I have a pair of outside lights on the house exterior Brick walls either side of my drive at first floor level. One lights is 5 bricks lower in height than the other light. I’ve replaced the lights with Up/Down wall lights and its now more obvious that they are mounted different heights...

UFH - Free Design Software ?

Yes, the PEX is marked but no lengths written on them. If I can redraw the layout of the spiral pattern within a room dimension, I can calculate the flow length Plus the run out distance.

UFH - Free Design Software ?

I have an existing 20+ year old UFH install but don’t have the original designs or design Flow Rates per circuit. I have measured up the rooms and using thermal camera can see the circuit spacing is approx 150mm in Spiral layout. I’ve flushed all the loops and cleaned all the flow meters, but...

VR65/VR66 for HW flow temp control

Aha. Many thanks. Based on how I have it wired now, The DHW fires up with the right hand CYL terminal of the VR65 terminal and No connection from the Nest to the Boiler Switched Live RT (3, 4)

VR65/VR66 for HW flow temp control

One clarification, Do you also leave a Switched Live control for the DHW to the Boiler RT Terminal in addition to having the VR65 CYL Terminal switching to set the right eBUSS Temp/kW ? At the moment I have removed the Switched live from the Boiler RT, but am thinking of adding it back. Mostly...

VR65/VR66 for HW flow temp control

Thanks to this thread I’ve just installed a VR65 in to my S-Plan 3 Zone Nest Controlled system with Vaillant ecoTEC 630 Primary boiler. I disconnected the DHW Zone Valve Microswitch Yellow wire from the Switched Live RT of the boiler and connected it to the VR65 CYL Normally Open Terminal. I...

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Perfect Mike. That’s just what I need.

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

I clarified the operation with Vaillant Technical and it is their opinion that d0 (kWh) and d77 (kWh), would operate independently i.e. if d.0 was set low eg 10kWh and d.77 was set high eg 30 kWh, then the HW d.77 would not be limited down to d.0 i.e. Not operate as a Global. However, you may...

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Aha. I had been hoping to set d0 at a much lower Heating Partial load (10kw) with d71 at 50 degrees for my Underfloor heating. And then have the 2x 32kWh HW Cylinders charging at the full boiler rate of 30kWh (d77) with a Temp of 70 degree + (d78). I know I can just limit the Temp d71, but I...

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

@notorious Many thanks, I was thinking that d0 (Heating Partial Load) kWh, would only effect the Heating kWh Top Limit and that d77 (Limit on cylinder charging output kWh) could be higher than d0, eg 30kWh for d77 - HW, whereas d0 could be 10kWh for the radiators ? But you have mentioned that...

VR65/VR66 for HW flow temp control

Hi, could you clarify the change you made here ? Sorry for not understanding. Perhaps in reference to the Dia https://ibb.co/xXG6z2C Many thanks,

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Sorry, I was meaning if I Use the Nest 2 - (HW, CH Rads) rather than using a Vailllant eBus Wall Thermostat, could this setup be adapted such that the VR65, could eBus control the boiler for the Nest w. CH Rads rather than be limited by the Flow Target Temp d71 and Range Rating d0 ? Given the...

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Great write up !! I’d like to set up a similar controls. I currently have a Vaillant ecoTEC 630 with 2 Nests controlling the ecoTEC switched Heat Demand (RT). The zones are Nest 1 - Ground Floor - Under Floor Heating Nest 2 - Upper Floor Radiators (x16), HW Cylinders x 2 Ideally, I would like...

Vaillant Vr33 open therm module question

Hi there, Did you find a solution for this ? I have a multi zone system. I'm thinking of trying to change one Nest (HW and CH Radiators Upper Floor) from Switched Heat demand to Opentherm control, but retain the second Nest (Ground Under Floor Heating) staying on switched Head Demand control...

    Gas Rate - Combi

It was just a question rather than a conclusion. Given the Annex 2 min gas rate test was done on CH with the warm 3 rads, rather than in the DHW which would be expected to run at full rate, this raised my question in thoughts on getting an engineer in. Are you rather thinking that the...

    Gas Rate - Combi

I have no concerns on the house boiler modulating, it was just a comparison. The annex only has 3kw if radiators that were also warm at the time of the test. I’m just thinking 20kw of gas consumption to circulate through 3kw of radiators in a one room annex appeared very high.

    Gas Rate - Combi

The Engineer is only being called to check out the combi boiler is working properly and not over consuming gas. To be fair if it is consuming 20kw to feed 3kw of radiators do you think I am being over cautious ?

    Gas Rate - Combi

Just checked the Gas Rate on my boilers in a) House and b) Annex. The House is a System Boiler and Annex is a Combi, I've checked them both on CH over 120 sec, and I know I need to do the Combi with HW demand rather than CH, but came out with a high value on the Combi CH so I'm booking in a...

    Underfloor Heating - Programming

Hi all, I know there are many debates about this, but I'd like to gain the practical experience of those running Wet Underfloor Heating. Do you find it most economic to Heat 24x7 or have booting Temperature for just some parts of the day ? I have aprox 250SqM of underfloor heating across 8 x...
